Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (44 mil Wed.)

...You know, I don't know about this one, but it comes out in, like, two days.

I really disliked Goblet for their "creative licensing," particularly the scene in which Neville gives Harry the gillyweed (when in fact, it was Dobby). Also, considering that the book is 869 pages, you can imagine that they will cut out even bigger chunks. I'll still see it. Only once.

EDIT: Phoenix, my apologies. Thanks for checking the correction, dude.

I'm about 7/8s through the goddamn book.

They're easy as **** to read but **** are they long.

I'll see it, but the books have all been far superior to the films for me.

I got my tickets ready for midnight. But I found something else kinda interesting...

        *** SPOILERS ***
Castlevania - Symphony of the Night: The story takes place almost entirely within a mystical castle, (Castlevania) filled with all manner of magic and monsters. Richter Belmont confronts Dracula, and only survives because a female relative casts powerful magic on him, rendering him invulnerable to the Vampire's attack. Dracula is killed, (though avoids staying truly dead) but secretly has followers trying to help him stage a comeback. It turns out Richter himself may be a vital component to Dracula's resurrection. At first, Richter is the only one who believes the Vampire Lord is coming back, but eventually others realize the truth and join in the fight. (Alucard and Maria) Late in the story it's found out that the key to ultimately defeating the villian is to collect various artifacts that he is spiritually linked to.

Harry Potter septilogy: The story takes place almost entirely within a mystical castle, (Hogwarts) filled with all manner of magic and monsters. Harry Potter confronts Voldemort, and only survives because a female relative casts powerful magic on him, rendering him invulnerable to the wizard's attack. Voldemort is killed, (though avoids staying truly dead) but secretly has followers trying to help him stage a comeback. It turns out Harry himself may be a vital component to Voldemort's resurrection. At first, Harry is the only one who believes the Dark Lord is coming back, but eventually others realize the truth and join in the fight. (Dumbledore, Ron, Hermione, etc.) Late in the story it's found out that the key to ultimately defeating the villian is to collect various artifacts that he is spiritually linked to.

        *** END SPOILERS ***

I didn't really care for Goblet. It's the only Potter movie that I've seen just once.

I really like Azkaban, so Goblet sucking was a kick in the face.

Of course, I'll probably be seeing Phoenix this week.

I am looking forward to seeing it. Hopefully I can this coming weekend.

Anyone else just sick of hearing people wanting Harry to be killed at the end of the 7th book?

            Ugh, so many emo lovers....

Re: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoneix

i heard about one big license they took for this one. it seems to make absolutely no sense with regards to the actual characters, but i assume they did it for budgetary reasons. either way, it's just movies. they started this project so soon before the books were even done, it's a foregone conclusion they've screwed up alot of stuff. so just take em with a grain of salt. also, since they're "for kids", there's no way they'd make them long enough to do the book justice.

i stopped looking for book faithfulness two movies ago.

sure, the movies haven't been able to touch all of the bases, but some/most of the stuff they leave out is stuff that I'm glad gets left out. of course I'm looking forward to this one. Goblet of Fire was tremendously entertaining, especially after Alfonso Cuaron's ultimately disappointing take on the third book.

The 3rd book was the best adaptation. The 4th suffered from Dumbledore's apparent mood change.

Yes but 4 prospered from the omission of S.P.E.W.

I'll probably end up seeing it tomorrow at midnight. Or midnight o' nine, the second showing.

But Goblet was a huge dissapointment, yes. The first couple were the best still. As far as the movies go.

Re: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoneix

I still can't believe they left out the identity of the Marauders and the reason Harry's patronus is a stag from Azkaban. Those are big thematic points and they kept the context but left out the actual point.

Actually I think this movie could still be a perfect point for the stag thing to be explained since he explains the stag at his hearing. Sirius or Lupin could fill him in after that.
