    The Darkness

No threads for The Darkness??? Sheesh!

Reviews point toward a short 10 hour experience, but I'm lookin' forward to it...this'll be a rental if I can get my hands on it. I can't wait to tentacle and toss fools into black holes...plus I LOVED Riddick, so I'm sure it'll be as fun as people are saying it is.

I like this new breed of story driven FPS's (Half Life 2, Riddick, Prey, the one where you beat homeless people). It fits my schedule and they're satisfying, especially when they try something new gameplay-wise.

Anyone play this yet? Lemme know.

I wish I had a console I could play The Darkness on. I'm a fan of the comic book along with Witchblade so I was interested in this one since the minute I heard about it and I don't even like FPSs. Also, you forgot to name BioShock in your list.

Well, I would, but Bioshock isn't out yet. I try not to base my arguments on games we haven't had the chance to play (Nintendo DS is awesome cuz it's gonna have DAWN OF MANA (OMG!) )

I read it was ho-hum, and I adore Riddck too. Is the game $60?

Sounds like a bare-bones experience. At least I got Half-Life 2 and all those other games for teh cheep.

Does that imply that Shadowrun is bad? If my brother was right, the game has NO SINGLE PLAYER. At least there'll be someone on XBL.

              duuuuuuuuuude...

This game is wicked cool. DEFINITELY rent it if you can.

EDIT: Beat it. Open ended ending, but that seems to be the trend these days...oh well. Still was a helluva ride. Oh, and I really dug the sound and music.

                Re: The Darkness

Dude, I never heard of this game until I read this topic. A friend let me play his copy today. I drive at top speed through Holland tunnel, killed a few dozen mob guys and NYPD officers and devoured their hearts.

And then I went to my girlfriend's Chinatown apartment and watched 20 minutes of To Kill A Mockingbird. It's ridiculous. I love it. Is the whole movie in there?

My one complaint is that things sometimes seem so far away, especially your enemies. I mean, it makes aiming an actual challenge, which I don't mind, but it gets on my nerves that when I kill someone I can't always see what I presume to be an awesome death animation. No, wait, my other complaint is that Beserkers seems to be totally uselss.

There's so much detail in this game. Each area is so distinctive, especially for an FPS. I don't know how long the game will hold together, but I think I got more out of this two hour experience than I got out of most of the RPGs I've played in the last two years.

Any game that has multiple animations for devouring hearts can't be half bad, right?

Oh, and one of the funniest moments in a game...you're relaxing w/ the chick, and if you wait long enough, she makes out w/ you in first person. *bleep* ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!!! I don't think an achievement ever made me laugh that hard.

Goin' squiggly with the leeches and biting off faces is so rewarding too.

Especially funny since Jackie can't have sex. Poor sap. For anyone interested you can read most of the first issue of the comic on Drunk Duck.

If he conceives a son The Darkness will pass on and he'll die immediately. So he could risk it if he wants to but he'd rather not die.

                            Re: The Darkness

This is one of the first games I got when I got my PS3. It's definitely worth a rental.

Biting faces off and devouring hearts is the high point of the game, and the most effective strategy in the whole thing.

The AI is pretty basic, but also seems to add to the feeling like you're the monster in a horror movie (Since most if the people who die in them are pretty dumb anyway).

I stopped bothering with the sidequests after awhile, and some were downright WTF!?! ("I'll throw some coins in the tracks and you can pick them up".)
