    The Right order???

I have had RPG Maker 2 since it came out, but I never could really get things to flow together, because of its complexity. But I wonder (now that I have RPGM3), if I get really good at making games on the third one, will I have a better understaning of the second one too?

I ask this because while the quality of the graphics in RPGM2 was not as great as RPGM3, I seemed that the game could be more origional... you could design your own houses, even! Besides, graphis are not what makes a great RPG, and if you go to freearcade.com and look for rogue, you will see what I mean. (rogue I a game made with hte letters and symbols you find on a keyboard!!!!!!!!! Old School!!!!!!)

i guess its possible to have a better understanding if you go back to rpgm2. maybe you'll see variables differently? event set-up? i dont know.

if you want to understand rpgm2 better, really all you have to do is try and want it to make sense. take the time.

I played Angband for a while many years back. I guess that's a variation of Rogue. It uses the same ASCII format. Tough game, though. Difficult to stay alive. I enjoyed mining for gold in the dungeons.

Did you know that Diablo was inspired by Rogue and Angband? They wanted to make a graphical version of it. The original version the designers made was turn-based like the ASCII games, but the executives at Blizzard wanted something more exciting, so they made it real-time.

While ASCII games offer more freedom in terms of what you can do, I don't scoff at graphics. Good-looking graphical environments do have their place in gaming.
