    Flea Market...

During this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, I went up this flea market up in Chester because I was told they had some old video games (SNES and older). Here is what I came out with:

Illusion of Gaia: My brother told me that this RPG wasn't even noticed when it first came out, but now that old RPGS are becoming collector's items, we didn't hesitate to pick up this game for the Super Nintendo. (Cost: $10)

The Pagemaster: I remember playing back when I was 8 and liking it. I figured I'd acquaint myself with Mac Culkin again. SNES. (Cost: $8)

Mega Man X: Classic. (Cost: $8)

Uniracers: Weirdest game I ever played, but worth it. (Cost: $8)

Krusty's Fun House: It was unappreciated when I first played it. Now, I'm giving it a second chance. (Cost: $8)

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest: Good bargain. (Cost: $8)

Castle of Illusion: Mickey Mouse (SEGA) with case: Great game, period. (Cost: $5)

Rocketknight Adventures with case (SEGA): Ditto. (Cost: $5)

Spy Hunter NES: My brother wanted it, so I got it. (Cost: Free game)

    Kirby's Avalance: (Cost: $12)

    Tetris 2 NES: (Cost: $10)

Mickey Mania: I'm ticked about this purchase because I found out when I got home that I already had a copy, and I never really liked this game. Now as for Maniac Mansion.....(Cost: $10)

I spent about a hundred bucks in all. Hell, I may even head back next week. That Atari 2600 (with an original copy of Mario Bros and Donkey Kong) was hollering my name.

Krusty's Fun House sucks. They should've given you money for taking it.

I've got my own [negative] opinions about Illusion of Gaia, but congrats on the interesting finds, and I hope you enjoy them!

              Nice finds, Bonanza!

I used to visit local swap meets in my area, and remember buying the following games a couple of years back.

              Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest $5
              Tetris (Game Boy) $3
              Rush 'n' Attack $5

I find that swap meets and flea markets are a great way to find old games. The only downside to it is that you get them as is--meaning the condition may not be pristine, or at worst, the cartridge won't work at all. At least you don't pay any tax, which is also good. Saves you a bit of money.

Nixon and Funaki: Aww, is it really true?

                Wave, Caciss, and Misty: Thanks.

I sampled a few of the games tonight. Mega Man X was awesome, Pagemaster was average, and as for Gaia....

Well, I was already getting tired of the dialog and wanted to kick some ass ASAP.

The Pagemaster's cool, I guess. Is the SNES version the same as the Genesis version?

Just wanted to comment on Illusion of Gaia--I think, for $10, you got a fine, FINE RPG. You're right--the game was overlooked. Luckily, I took interest in it and still have my old copy.

Being the sequel to another favorite game of mine; Soulblazer, I have a fondness for it. Quintet, a powerhouse developer under Enix at the time, made some fine games in their day, especially ActRaiser. I think their last game was Terranigma--the third game in the SoulBlazer series (if you wish to call it that ) which never saw the light of day in the US, but did find a release in Europe.

                      So.....yeah. Go Illusion of Gaia!

                        Re: Flea Market...

all I ever see at flea markets are Genesis sports games and Sega CD/Saturn FMV games.

I thought Krusty's Fun House was a decent puzzle game... I tried playing it about a couple months ago and got lost.

Is Kirby's Avalanche the golf-type one? Because that was pretty fun too.

No, that was Kirby's Dream Course. Kirby's Avalanche was the Puyo Puyo dealie.

I played that game, too. I was playing on easy mode, and I still lost.
