    iPod touch

Anybody else want one? Anybody actually getting one? I wish I had the money. As unnecessary as it would be for me to buy I can't help but covet it. Anyway to add some substance to this post I'll throw in IGN's Pros and Cons for iPhone.

IGN: The Pros and Cons of iPhone: Part One
+ It's smaller than you realize and it's got style to spare
    - It doesn't ship with an instant messenger program
+ Multi-touch tech and a sleek, simple interface
    - The keyboard is unproven
+ Music-player, movie-player, internet browser, and phone in one
    - Its storage capacity rivals iPod Nano, not iPod
    + It plays YouTube movies

    Part Two
    - It uses EDGE, no 3G
+ The battery life is (surprisingly) good
    - Third parties don't have access to iPhone
+ Seamless connection to your PC and iTunes
    - The price and the lack of concrete plan info and rates

I've got one reserved. I am guaranteed to have it about a week after its US release.

      Re: iPhone

I dont want it. in addition to just completely hating apple and everything they stand for, I have no need for a cellphone, and if I want a portable multimedia device, i'll get a PSP. again. which I plan to do.

        Re: iPhone

A guy in the local newspaper wrote an interesting article about it:

        http://www.baltimoresun.com/technolo...ck=1&cset=true

It's strictly opinion, but I would wait too. Better to let something bomb and not pay out the nose for it or watch something suceed and know your getting something good when you pay for it.

Umm completely untrue. You should have watched both apple keynotes on it. Developers can pretty much make any app they want for it, and have those apps interact with the built in ones on the phone.
Everything is a Riemann sum of a lot of nothing.

I was just listing what IGN put. They point out what you said in the full article but I just put the bullet points.

I love apple, but im not big on the "all in one" electronics that have been so popular lately.

Iv got an ipod, iv got a phone, iv got a computer, i dont feel like sheeling out that much money o i could do it all at once.

Hasn't Japan had this phone technology for a while?

The combination probably, the multi-touch screen I kind of doubt, as that technology is relatively new in the consumer market. Pretty sure it was just proven to work at research conferences a couple years ago.

As for the iPhone itself, I really don't care either way. Sure it would be fun to play with, but I'm curious as to if it's price tag would measure up to it's usefulness. I'm all for all in one machines if done well, but most are not quite as good as having a separate machine for each task. But it's certainly easier to carry around one device instead of 4 or 5 when you're traveling.

I like my Treo700p just fine, I'm still not happy with anything Apple makes. Even the iPod doesn't work as well as I'd like it to, even though I've bought three.

Apple is gay, and everything they do is flaming suck.

No, seriously, I'll hold off on the iPhone. If the storage was raised by a couple (80+) gigs to replace my iPod, for sure. I'd love a handheld running OS X, but I don't need that shiz right now. Seems like most phone companies are out to rape their customers, so I don't forsee any reasonable plans to go along with it.

It's too expensive, not that it's overpriced, but it's just outside of my budget, plus I have no need for it outside of it being a luxury buy.
