Any drawing programs that don't suck that I can get legally?

MS Paint blows(because you can't save palettes and the color range is terrible), can't use GIMP because it was prepared by stupid programmers, Adobe PS is expensive and kind of complicated and I don't know of any other options.

I just want basically MS Paint with its above problems gone, I just wanna draw without having color issues and the same ease of use wouldn't hurt either.

Anyone got any ideas? I don't want to have to create my own sprite maker, because every other douche on the internet doesn't have enough sense to make a drawing program that's user friendly and has a decent feature set, that DOESN'T cost anything.

I think ms paint is just fine for making sprites, maybe I'm just used to it.

I miss the days when I could download demos for Paint Shop Pro and Animation Shop over and over. They were easy and PERFECT for sprite creation.

When I make a certain color, I EXPECT THAT COLOR TO SHOW UP ON THE SCREEN WHEN I'M DRAWIN' SHAZ!

Just steal photoshop off any p2p network.

I think I found what I wanted, either a program called Graphics Gale, or an old "I ****ed up" demo of PSP3. Either way, I'm good hopefully.

The binary crap is the reason that Allegro hardly works on my system! I already went through that stupid **** with GIMP.

What's wrong with the color in MS paint? That's the only reason I bother with it.

If I need to remember which colors I'm using (or if I have to plan sets of colors in advance), I just make my own palette on the side.

Well first of all, I hate it when palettes reset when you change pictures. MS Paint doesn't need to, since it doesn't even load the palette of the picture you're drawing.

And when I want a brown, I expect a BROWN. Not a red, not a green, A FREAKING BROWN! Also, MS Paint sucks in lumination values.
