The sexy, sexy Silent Hill movie topic: Boromir joins cast!

    http://www.comingsoon.net/news/topnews.php?id=9300

Radha Mitchell (Finding Neverland, Melinda and Melinda, and PITCH BLACK, *****) will topline the video game adaptation Silent Hill for TriStar Pictures.

Principal photography is due to begin Monday in Toronto on the suspense horror feature, directed by Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf), and will run through July 22. The movie is budgeted at $45 million-$50 million, with additional casting to be finalized.

Silent Hill is based on the Konami game in which Rose (Mitchell) desperately searches for her lost daughter in the mysterious, terrifying town of Silent Hill, where they are trapped.

The screenplay was written by Roger Avary (The Rules of Attraction). The film is produced by Samuel Hadida, who co-produced both "Resident Evil" films and has a third installment in the works at Sonys' Screen Gems and Constantin. Hadida is also preparing to take on an adaptation of Capcom's Onimusha.

Silent Hill is a Franco-Canadian co-production from Hadida and Don Carmody (Chicago). Hadida's brother Victor and Andrew Mason ("The Matrix" trilogy) are executive producers.

So, a guy who wrote a romantic comedy is doing the Silent Hill movie...

And why a damn female lead? It's ALWAYS a female lead in horror films. Apparently men are ill-equipped for scary situations.

        This had better not suck.

I dunno. James was pretty womanly.

Rules of Attraction is pretty far from romantic. You must be thinking of Laws of Attraction, or whatever that P.O.S. with Pierce Brosnan and Julianne Moore is.

Horror movies typically star chicks because their situations are metaphors for empowerment. Or, er, something. Besides, besides horror how many movies have strong leading lady badasses anyway?? Aliens, Kill Bill and Resident Evil are all that come to mind at this point in time...

I sincerely doubt that "Rose" will be a badass. If she is, then the movie's instantly ruined. Badassery only works in certain movies... like the ones you mentioned.

Awww shucks, you know what I meant. I think. Hopefully. Maybe.

Silent Hill protagonists can't be badasses.

They must be effeminate and look like they've had past drug problems.

Silent Hill characters are the only characters that NEED that strung out, drug induced look to them to work correctly!

I am also dissapointed in the female lead. I'd prefer random white guy #5634324930.

                          What about Henry?

I'm happy the movie is starting to get rolling, thus my "wooohooo" but I would have also preferred a male lead.

James stuck his hand in a toilet once, just to get more ammo. "Heather" and Henry refused. I'm not sure what Harry's stance on toilet treasure is.

I'll bet this new leading lady wimps out, too.

But James is also Harry's gimp now.
