XBox 360 vs. Wii (Not a console war)

So, I've had my Wii since December, and I LOVE it. Or, I should say, I love the IDEA of it. I honestly haven't picked it up in probably close to a month, or whenever I beat Super Paper Mario. I like what the Wii is, but as far as the games go? I'm none too impressed. There's really nothing on the VC I find download-worthy, and no retail games I could be convinced into spending 40 dollars on. So it's basically something cool to look at, and play Karaoke Revolution on. I know there's going to be SOME good games released in the future. Mario Galaxy, Metroid Corruption, RE: Umbrella Chronicles... but even if those were here TODAY, I don't know if that would persuade me to keep the thing.

Having said that, lately my eyes have been wandering to another woman, the XBOX 360. With an already amazing library of games, and countless more lying in wait, I have to wonder if this is really the console for me. I can't see much of anything keeping me glued to my Wii, but I can list a dozen that I would stay home from work to play on the 360. So I think I want a 360. Problem being, I can't afford both. So my question to you fine folks is this: should I sell my Wii (I have people offering me north of 220 for it already), and put that towards my inevitable X360 purchase? The way things are looking now, I can reasonably afford a 360 this way, and finally get back to playing some games. Your thoughts?

How about just saving up the money for the 360 while keeping your Wii. I mean there are going to be some really fun games for the Wii coming down the line.

And the 360 isn't that expensive that you couldn't save up for it. I would just get both instead of selling the Wii.

I agree with Vonwert. The first party titles are obviously inevitable considerations, but you never know when a great third party hit may come out of left field. And having a 360 on top of it will let you enjoy the conventional games we've all been used to over the years, plus the best online service available.

How about just saving up the money for the 360 while keeping your Wii. I mean there are going to be some really fun games for the Wii coming down the line.

The problem with that is that I don't make enough money on a regular basis to save up $400+ within any reasonable time frame. I would need kind of a 'jump start' to even make it feasible.

Depends on your level of preference. I must admit--the 360 is looking sharp with the Marketplace; allowing you to play old arcade games--some of them I really like. (erm....*cough* Double Dragon, Super Street Fighter II Turbo *cough*) It's also got some good third-party support.

The Wii may not be as powerful as the 360, but it's got a pretty good line up of fun games. The ones that take liberties with the Wii Remote are quite fun. Also, who can forget the Virtual Console? They release games every week on that. Being able to download and play old console games is a treat in my book. And, yes, I know the Wii library right now doesn't offer a whole lot, but the games are coming. Soon.

If I were you, I'd get both of them. But the ball's in your court, and only you have the final say on what you want.

Yeah I haven't touched my Wii in months...I've been playing lots of Pac-Man C.E. and Prince of Persia Classic though.

I haven't played my Wii since I beat Zelda. That was February. Although, I'm not counting how I've been using it as a GameCube (since I got rid of mine for some extra cash; no regrets so far), and there are plenty of VC games I want to play, at least after I finally get around to getting my system replaced (stupid 112-whatever it was that locked my online access).

I still play the Wii quite a bit, and if it wasnt for Oblivion, it'd be the only console I play right now.

Thanks to RPG-13, we found a solution to my problem. Thanks, guy! And yeah, there's a couple good reasons for me to own my Wii, not the least of which being the new, Wii-sclusive NiGHTS game. :-D
