    [parasite eve]

So I got this one in the mail yesterday (I'm starting to sound like Bonanza here). I just got to day 4 and while I remember it being a lot harder when I played it back when it came out I'm glad that I decided to but this game again.

I'm surprised at how well it's aged. The graphics aren't FF7 ugly and it's made a lot better than it's sequel. The storyline went from hard to understand (hey, I was 10 years old at the time) to feeling a little convuluted but I'm still liking it.

Too bad the current sequel is pinned for a cell phone. WTF man.

And I LOVE how they CONSTANLY have to use UPPERCASE WORDS to indicate EMPHASIS.

I think the second is just as good and I agree. What the hell is this America-hate for? I want PE3.

I also liked the second one, just not as much as the original. The sequel felt a lot more bland. You had the tower, the desert, then some underground shelter and all the FMVs felt tacked on and were a lot less frequent than in the original. But you get to watch Aya take a shower *geekgasm*.

And the storyline wasn't nearly as compelling.

They're both two completely different games each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

The one thing that I always remember about the PE series is baby. Simply put, baby. What the heck?

I liked Parasite Eve. The first one was pretty cool. I haven't played the second, though.

The story was very edgy and disturbing, especially involving the opera singer with that illness. It was almost Resident Evil like, but not really. Shame they're putting the third game on a cell phone instead of a next-gen system, but....what are you gonna do?

I liked PE A LOT better than PE2. PE2 felt more like a RE clone with RPG elements, bad controls, camera and all. I did like how unlike PE, you could level up all your abilities and how more balanced the difficulty was in PE2.

The story in PE I felt, was a lot better too, as the characters were more involved in the storyline, instead of you seeing a character or two, and then going all Samus Aran in PE2.

Parasite Eve just isn't like anything else Square's ever made, if you ignore the fact that Aya and Eve are still pretty much Cloud and Sephiroth.

A game from my favorite developer in my (mostly) favorite city. I thought the fact that they were finally making a game in the real world (excluding Front Mission and stuff) was cool as hell. The interpretation of the city was pretty admirable - Bethesda fountain was pretty sweet, and I LOVE that they KO'd the Statue of Liberty - though it could've been more believable. No amount of sci-fi mumbo jumbo would make me believe that you could evacuate Manhattan overnight.

PE2 was cool, but going from New York City to a desert town - it just felt so LONELY.

Einhander is more unlike anything that Square has ever made. Except maybe Rad Racer.

Well, King's Knight was a pretty cool shooter, and it was so damn hard. In that way, I don't think Einhander's too different.

Man, why can't Square just follow the formula they had on the PSone? Just take Final Fantasy and smash it together with another game.

FF + Resident Evil = Parasite Eve
                      FF + Zelda/Alundra = Brave Fencer Musashi
FF + Metal Gear Solid = Vagrant Story

Not so much the mechanics of Final Fantasy as the SPIRIT, I guess. Maybe I'm reaching.

I think Hybrid Heaven would been a better choice of phrase, than MGS. Vagrant Story and Metal Gear Solid clash so badly.

Despite the conspiracies, one-man infiltration and spectacular real-time cut scenes?

Hardly any stealth sequences anywhere in the game(liked they actually mattered anyway), the timeline, setting, real-time cutscenes, genres? I believe they have little in common.
