GTA does not equal real life, ok?

Tonight my Uncle and cousin and I were driving on a three lane divided freeway. We were nearing our destination when ZOOM, a white car speeds towards us... that's right, facing the wrong way. Uncle had to slam on the brakes to stop us from getting hit head on. The white car swerved to miss us and rocketed straight into the oncoming traffic behind us, swerving again to get around a semi, which also slammed on its brakes (along with everyone else who realized what was happening).

The reason for this daring stunt and the hurry with which they executed it was obvious, due to the wailing sirens and the two police cars that shot past us right after the two perps in the car. A third car flew past on the other side of the freeway, going the proper direction.

Man, was my heart ever pounding after that... I had recently been reading a story about a police chase in 2004 that ended with an innocent bystander being killed instantly, so all I could think about was how I hoped that no one would be hurt in this chase. The white car sped around behind the semi it had just weaved behind and disappeared behind a car dealership. Everyone on the road sat in stunned silence, waiting for all the police cars to get by, before they all started driving again.

Thankfully, I just saw the outcome on the 11:00 news. The RCMP and the police managed to box the suspects in and stop them dead in their tracks, and both were taken into custody and charged with numerous offences. The best part is, no one was hurt. Thank goodness! What a good thing...

So yes, that was my bit of excitement for the evening. Damn, I'm glad those losers were caught. o_o

I always have to fight the urge to slam through traffic with my car after playing GTA. I forget that I can't just abandon my car and swipe a new one afterwards.
Perhaps one day when we have virtual reality my appetite for destructive driving will be sated. One day...

Oh yeah, and glad you're not dead and stuff.

Yeah, totally. Thank God no one got hurt or worse, especially you.

To watch it unfold on TV is one thing, but almost being a part of it is quite another. This sort of stuff happens here in California all the time.

Thanks, guys. I probably made it sound more dramatic than it was, but I was so worked up when I typed the post I wasn't really thinking about it.

We were in a large pick up truck, so the white car would have been worse off if they had hit us, but it's an old truck so there aren't really any safety features. >_>

Thankfully, he dodged right by. He wasn't close enough to be too dangerous to us (he was about three to five feet away from us when he swerved past), but was it ever startling to see a car going the wrong way in traffic and coming right at us! My heart was in my throat watching him over my shoulder and seeing if he was going to hit someone on his way down the road.

I've had closer calls in a vehicle, but this one was the weirdest.

                Glad to see you're ok.

Be sure to point out to us which car was you when we see it on World's Wildest Police Chases.

Lucky! I always wanted to see a high speed police chase.
I only got to see three people get arrested.

However, I'm glad you lived. Being dead is not fun.... I think.

I saw a pycho on a motobike whipping through heavy traffic on I-40 with very little space between cars going 70 miles per hour.

He's probably just from California. I'd be more amazed if I didn't see that any time I took to the highways. My favorite episode is still the sub-compact doing 70+ on a mini spare tire. That's just ****ing metal.

Mineral fornication and wheels. That meshes as seamlessly as cookies and... wheels.

There was one instance in which I was on my way to school about seven years ago. It was rainy, and the guy ahead of us lost control of his speedy car and ended up in a direct collision with an exceptionally large street lamp. The fender yielded like butter.

Some years later, I saw, from afar, a car exploding in the street, apparently due to fuel combustion issues. As my companions and I drove by (Mind you, I was not driving), we spotted a severed leg on the street.

Granted, the latter story has nothing in particular to do with GTA-esque recklessness, but exploding cars are also in the game, are they not?
