Final Fantasy I and II Anniversary Edition (PSP)

I have Final Fantasy Origins, but I don't have Dawn of Souls, so I was wondering whether or not I should get these for my PSP.

I'm debating between either finding the GBA Dawn of Souls, which includes both games in one cartridge, or the anniversary PSP editions of FF1 and FF2--sold separately but look absolutely gorgeous. I'm in need of a Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy 2 that I can take on the go.

Yeah, they're the exact same game, but I must admit--the PSP versions look fantastic. Dawn of Souls doesn't look half bad either. The only differences are the graphics, the widescreen format and the price. And Dawn of Souls is kinda tough to find at the moment.

What do you think? Should I try and find Dawn of Souls for my GBA/DS, or spend a little more money and get the PSP editions?

Get the PSP editions. Better Graphics and features. Plus I believe the PSP editions keep the FMV cinematics from Origins.

But, please tell me why I should play the same game, now for three times?

        Agreed.

Misty, for the LOVE OF GOD, do NOT get Dawn of Souls. It was the worst purchase I ever made for my Game Boy Advance SP. I mean, shoot, I still have it on me. I could mail it to you for a nominal fee, if you'd like.

Well, in all honesty I say stick with Origins. I just thought my previous response would be better as she's looking to buy either Dawn of Souls or the PSP remakes.

You didn't play ANY of the versions. So, for you, you haven't played the same game for three times.

I played the original on NES, remember? As my brother, you should.

I will not be happy until there are ten versions of FF1!

Personally I think they did such a great job with Final Fantasy Origins, I don't know why they'd want to keep porting them around.

Dawn of Souls was a horrible purchase, I feel. They really messed up the difficulty level. Sure, FFI got the bonus dungeons and extra-diffucult bosses and FFII got the extra after-game quest, but I didn't find those worth getting to after playing the rest of the games.

I have Dawn of Souls, and I like it just fine. I'm not buying the PSP versions only because IMO the graphics aren't as much better as they are just different. If your not crazy about graphics, I'd recomend Dawn of Souls, only because it's the same exact game and it costs a LOT less than buying both the PSP ones.

If you get the PSP versions you'll be spending 60 dollars on ancient software.

You're telling Square it's okay they're robbing us with bull**** remakes.

Y'know square is remaking FF4 on the DS right? It came out on the GBA less than a year ago?

Square went down the tube ever since they acquired Enix and began their "rehash" process where everything Final Fantasy 7 is INSTANT GOLD.

If you want the unraped version of FF1, stick with Origins or buy the PSP version. Dawn of Souls removed any and all difficulty; the original FF was supposed to be the Japanese homage to Dungeons and Dragons but they removed the spell slot as well as the tactics in battle (like the addition of automatic reselection of the enemies once they're defeated) and they even added ethers as a common, cheap item making magic incredibly overpowered.

I actually prefer Dawn of Souls over any other version. The easier difficulty and absence of load times made the game mercifully shorter. I kind of liked just breezing through the games. Thinking about sinking over 20 hour in Final Fantasy I and especially Final Fantasy II makes me shudder. There are definately much better Final Fantasy games to be playing instead.

Well, I figured it'd just be the same game anyway--only prettier. Plus, I'm not sure if I want to spend $60 on something that I already have for my PSOne.

I'm seduced by the graphics--they're gorgeous. But gameplay is what matters!

I gotta think on this some more......
