Consumer-level 3D printers are on the way

Yeah, it's about five thousand dollars, but its soooo damn cool. model something in 3D, and that thing will make it real. well worth the money.

I remember there being one in my drafting classes at college. It was pretty big though.

Not all that useful unless you're very proficient in CADD.

I remember reading about something like this in Popular Science's last month's issue: http://www.popsci.com/popsci/technol...cbccdrcrd.html

Is that printer similar to this guy's home-made version?
In the beginning the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and is widely considered as a bad move.

Yeah, I use things like these in school all the time. Takes forever.

I'd rather have a CNC machine.

Crazy. I remember going to work with my mom one day and asking if her copier could make me a new toy (yeah, I was, like, 8). Turns out that when my kids come to work with me, mine can!

I am coming for all of you!

                    Now everyone's a sculptor.

                    ...and that's why.

I actually took a 3D Visualization and Rapid Prototyping course last spring. Lots of fun field trips!

Some people are saying that desktop 3D printers will pave the way for the next industrial revolution!

I can't find a link on exactly how it works. It sounds cool though.

I will answer this call with a cheesy informational video!

A home-based desktop printer works by the same overall principles.

                              Here's a video of a small printer attempting a print-out.
