Does anyone know were to get a Max drive?
By the way, does it sound stupid to have a battle system where it is one hit kill, and instead of killing them, you are a bard and lols the woman to sleep?
They all want a piece of it.

max drives are available at gamestop, EBgames, toys r us, best buy, target.... basically anywhere that sells video games will likely sell max drives. they are often bundled with the action replay max now.

Ultra-realistic games are one hit kills(like Star Wars:Jedi Academy) but you must also make your player very vulnerable also or the game will get boring...

Of course now, EBgames is Gamestop. Gamestop bought them out just the other day.
Its the microsoft business model"Why compete when you can own?"

actually, it's the oldest "business model" there is.

I just read that some people say the Max Drive minidisc can't work in the new slim PS2? Is this true?

Does anyone know a place online to buy the Max Drive? The stores around me only have the AR Max Evo and I don't want to spend $40 when I only want it for the Max Drive.

Strange...EBGames doesn't have it, and Amazon doesn't have it. Has it suddenly been discontinued?

I got mine at a gamestop. It was the last one they had. I hope its not discontinued, seeing as RPGM3 hasnt been released yet.

Maxdrives.com

www.amazon.com
www.gamestop.com
www.ebgames.com
www.bestbuy.com
should I go on?

Amazon - "This item is currently not available."
Gamestop - "No search results found! Please try again."
EBgames - Plenty of Maxes, plenty of Drives, but no Max Drive.
Best Buy - A lot of computer/notebook stuff comes up, but no Max Drive.
If you're able to find the thing at these sites, by all means point us to them.

huh. looks like they stopped selling the max drive on it's own.
just do a search for Action Replay MAX EVO, and you'll find it.

I see a lot of Action Replay when I do these searches. Is that like a souped-up version of the Max Drive?
Valkysas

its a new version of the action replay that ships with a max drive. the new action replay lets you play MP3 CDs and MPEG video and stuff on your PS2.

But didn't the Max Drive cost less than half the price of the AR Max Evo? I don't want to spend double to get a bunch of features I have no use for. I made the mistake of buying a SharkPort not realizing that you had to have GameShark to use it and I didn't want to spend extra money to get that. Is there no product available anymore to JUST transfer PS2 saves to PC without paying twice as much for a bunch of extra code-breaking and media playing junk?
Does anyone have a Max Drive they would like to sell? Oh and all I've found so far is a couple EBay auctions selling it from the UK and with the currency conversion it's almost as much as the Evo.

check your local best buys. mine has a few max drives still on the shelf.

Never mind. I just found out I'm a COMPLETE idiot. I found Datel's store (http://us.codejunkies.com/shop/shop.asp?c=US&cr=USD&cs=$&r=0&l=1) and they do have the Max Drive alone in 16, 32, and 64 MB but the 16MB is only $10 cheaper than AR Max Evo so there's really no reason not to get all the extras if that's the only price difference.

This is like talking to a wall. Are you waiting for someone to give you a maxdrive? Because it's not going to happen.
Here's a direct link to one that is in a bundle on EB:
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/245195.asp
Now quit asking.

My whole point was that I didn't want all the other stuff in the bundle but that's only because I thought the Max Drive by itself was much cheaper. Turns out I was wrong as it's only $10 less. But if anyone still wants to get it alone go here: http://us.codejunkies.com/shop/product_filter.asp?p=1&catID=9&c=US&cs=%24&r=0&cr=USD&l=1&go2.x=19&go2.y=11
And yes I realize I said all that in the post at the top of the page but it seems like no one noticed the link the first time. There's some other intersesting Datel products there.

Go to that one Gemstone.

Ah this was helpful. I was kinda disconnected so I didnt knew the max drive existed. I gave up using RPGM2 because I couldnt find a x drive or shark port on the local stores. But now I checked Gamestop and they do have the action replay max evo. All those features for 40 dollars is a must buy. And all the people that have bought it say it was worth it. So I'm gonna buy one this saturday. Finally I'll be able to play RPGM2 games made by other people.

I think this is the best deal between the cost and memory.(16 bit mem. is $30 and this is only $10 more for 2X the mem.)

You know what? I wonder if it would be possible to copy the Max Drive software to a CD-R and use it with a different flash drive. That'd most likely be illegal though. Yeah, probably. *shifty eyes*

You're naughty.hehehe.
It'd be cool if Datel just sold the discs so you could use your own flash memory, legally.I got a free 64mb flash mem. stick when my mom went to her nurse congressional meeting thing so I'd be "hooked up". :D
BTW Vakaal-You can get that eye problem fixed nowadays with laser eye surgery :lol .

As long as I can transfer my games and play games from other people I dont care. Change of plans I'm going tommorow to buy it! Oh the best RPGM2 games are so close.

I saw the Max Drive bundle at Best Buy today at the price of $50.00 CDN. Should I purchase it now, or should I wait to buy it later so the price can go down? My concern is that the product may become more rare overtime, and that would suck, considering I want to play user-created RM games as well as share my own.

I got my Tax Return yesterday and blew some of it on a MAX Drive at last.
I just downloaded Dungeon Warden's Waitressing Mini-Game and the Pavilion's PS2 Save Converter tool.
I want to complain!
Everything was far too easy!!
If I don't have to go through needlessly complicated bovine fecalia I worry that something is wrong. Must be too much RPGM2 programming.
So, Abyss Knight; Absolutely grab it now if you are in a position financially to do so. I will be downloading other folks work and giving them some long overdue feedback next.
It's my way of returning the favors done me by these good people who answered my nonsensical questions so tolerantly and helped me get my game to the point of near completion.
Then I'll trim down some unfinished bits and upload either a mini-game or a demo.
The completed game will likely not be completed prior to September.
I guess this is the place to thank The Pavilion for posting the PS2 Save Converter and their very helpful article on the PS2 file transfer device(s).
While I may have figured out how the max drive works without the article, I couldn't have gotten much use out of the device without the file converter.
Time to go waitress for a while... (my first job was as a bus boy, so this should be a all too familiar).
Peace.
