Yeah, a sequel to Gears of War doesn't seem too hot.

I'd like to see Cliffy B move on and reinvent different genres, and not get stuck in a happy little grove.

        Also: Yearly sports rehashes.

A lack of RPGs set that are neither medieval or sci-fi in nature.

            That only leaves the present...

Oh, and microtransactions are the clear winner. Nothing else even comes close.

I say graphics over gameplay. Graphics are nice, but I look for the fun factor in a game.

I personally feel that the text-based genre has not be tapped to its fullest potential.

Are you serious or just being sarcastic?

Because there's a huge text game (or interactive fiction as us geeks in the know like to call it) community that constantly puts out new, inventive, and progressive games all the time. Some of them really redefining what a "game" can be.

I can clue you in if your interested.

I was being partially sarcastic but you've piqued my interest.

sports games bug me the most. Instead of repackaging an entire game and putting it on shelves, they can just offer a quick download that updates the team rosters and plays for each new year.

Like most things in life Wikipedia is a good place to start.

                              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interactive_Fiction

I gives a pretty compleate history of the medium but the real interesting things start happening in "The Modern Era."

I really recomend "Photopia" if you're new to the medium. It's not much as a game (it's easy and linear) but it's quite the experiance. It's about ten years old at this point but it was released at the time people where getting away from text adventures (puzzles and quests) and starting to experiment with what interactive fiction can really do. It's real nice.
