Which Mega Man should I get?

I'm not a huge fan (I only ever had Mega Man 3 for the NES), but we've got this Mega Man collection at work with games 1-8, plus 2 unreleased arcade game, and also this Mega Man X collection. I'm possibly thinking about getting one of them just to have and play once in a while. Which do you recommend?

Well if you haven't played any of the Megaman Legends games, I would suggest those first.

Otherwise, I would go with the orginal Megaman collection.

I personally recommend Mega Man X Collection as I found it a lot more enjoyable to play. It's just so much nicer to have the added mobility of X as opposed to Mega Man's crappy jump and slide. If you meant other than those, if you like the X collection get X8. Other than that maybe Legends, which I still need to play since everyone here seems to love it to death.

Mega Man 1-4, X, X2, X4 and Legends are the ones I like, so try those.

I'm gonna play X8 and Legends 2 soon.

I love most of those, but I think Mega Man X as a series has some of the most amazing controls ever in a sidescroller. Everything is completely precise, and once you know what you're doing, you can do some really crazy maneuvers. Seriously, just controlling it is so enjoyable.

I tend to prefer the simplicity and tightness of the Classic series, myself. But mostly for the whimsical presentation.

If you're gonna get the Classic Anniversary Collection, get the XBox version. If you can't play that, the PS2 version will do just fine.

Absolutely. Mega Man X is a breeze to play.

It's tough for me to go back to the slower classic games.

I guess I'm the only one who doesn't like the X controls. It's too hard to dash and the Sigma levels always give em a lot of trouble.

I THINK THE CLASSIC GAMES ARE THE BEST EVEN 6 BECAUSE YOU GET TO SHOOT AN INDIAN.

Dude, I LOVE the dash. The only area where the dash bothers me is if I need to jump-dash off of a wall while charging the buster since you can't double-tap while on a wall, but once they introduced the air dash, that stopped being an issue.

You could always change the dash to the R button. It's what I did and made things so much easier than using the a button.

But yes the dash was awesome and what led to X's increased mobility especially when you get the up air dash and the double. But also in the X collection you get to play as

X5 and X6 are pretty meh though. But 1-4 are solid.

I used to assign the dash command to the L button. Then I got used to double-tapping.

I like X4 the most. I advise against ZX though.
