So I was digging around in my houswe the other day and I came across a relatively old computer relic. Myst. For those of you who don't know, Myst was one of the very first computer games to come on the CD format, and boasted pretty good graphics and (for some) addicting gameplay.
The basic premise of the game is that you found a magical book that was created by a man named Atrus, who has learned the skill of creating "linking books" that can transport you to bizarre (and often creepy) worlds, called ages. There's actually 5 games in total, the most recent and final being Myst V: End of Ages, which came out in 2005.
I've never played IV or V, but I own the original's of the first three, although have never beaten any of them because of the incredibly hard puzzles.
It's hard to classify Myst, but I guess you could call it a Puzzle/Mystery game, you go about operating machines to activate stairs, hidden doors, elevators, ships etc. to complete some sort of agenda. The story was actually pretty good, if I remember right, but it was full of tough riddles and puzzles that required reading of journals scattered around the game's islands to crack.
You can find a full list of all the games in the series here on Gamespot: click.
Anyway, enough of my spiel, has anyone else played this rather obscure game?
