I've realized something. I hate Squeenix now. Before I was just annoyed, now it's become full-on hate.
Between VP2: Silmeria, hearing that DQIX will be a Mana-clone on a handheld, and the general reaction to Dawn of Mana, I feel that all hope is lost, until someone who doesn't completely suck grabs the reins and rights this crippled horse of a game company.
Yes, I feel this, despite FFXII actually being a good game. But that was almost completely based on the fact that Matsuno was in charge, and he might never make another game again.

Matsuno made great games--especially the Tactics and Ogre Battle (I believe). Why isn't he going to make any more games? Was it because of his illness that made him bow out during the production of FFXII?
I'm amazed that people still have faith in this series. I mean, it's been running on the strenth of ONE good game for what? Ten, fifteen years now? I love Legend of Mana and all, but in a very personal way. I wouldn't say that it upholds the quality of the series. Secret of Mana = good game. Every other one = Not so much.
So why do people still have hope that new Mana games will be good? If anything the series trademark is suck.
Also: Sword of Mana was terrible. Play Final Fantasy Adventure and realize your folly.
Yeah, i wish we would have seen Seiken Densetsu 3 (Secret of Mana 2) in the US, and it werent only available in english illegally, and I liked Legend of Mana(still have it), but its crazy that every other Mana game has been so bad.
Edit: Is it possible that Secret of Mana was a bad game too, we just didnt realize it back then?...nah, it was too fun for that to be true.
Upon replaying it last summer: It's slow paced and charging up high level weapons sucks. Translation is pretty weak and the game feels rough in spots. Still a lot of fun with multiplayer though.
I actually enjoyed my playthough of Evermore more. But that's a different topic.
