So I've decided to record some of my musing on the bass. Most of them are just completely spur of the moment jam like sessions, so most are rather rough and generally not cohesive. That said they do have some good parts to them. Thought I would post them though just to get some more opinions on them. So try not to dash my hopes too much :D, but feel free to leave actual criticism (not just you suck, etc). So I'll probably add to this every other day, as I plan to just kind of pick up my bass and hit record, though I'll try to go back and clean up some of it. I'll try and make up some actual songs along the way too, maybe one every two weeks or something. So listen to a few if you don't mind.

My favorite (since it's actually cohesive)

Reminds me of Metallica for some reason. Do something happy.

My opinion is that they all sound really contrived. Like, this is what happens when you discover what minor scales are.

Do you have any examples of 'happy' bass playing. Just curious as bass is mainly not used in happy songs that I know of, since it's mainly an R&B, Jazz and rock instrument, and having the low tone kind of makes it not so happy.

I like the first one, could be part of a song if you put a guitar or somthing in there :p

Is there anything you can't do?! :lol

Good stuff. You continue to amaze me every single day.

Next thing you'll know, you'll be showing us pictures of the solar-powered SUV you built from scratch. :lol

Well according to Tex play bass :p, though I admit I don't really have a lot of 'range', guess I should probably get lessons at some point, or at least start learning about music theory. But I'll keep trying to find some new things, possibly not in the minor scale, which to be honest I don't really think about when I'm playing, as I only vaguely know what it is. But I do tend to stick to the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th frets a lot, well and open. Guess that's because that's what a lot of rock songs I learned to play did.

And I think the second would be more Terr's area I'm not all that mechanically inclined. Though I do want to eventually have an Electric Vehicle, though I'm not sure I would have the time, or know how to build one myself.

Don't worry TTC I'd help you. We'd stick Mora in the tank and run of his "natural gasses".

:p

Totally, to me this stuff sounds really boring and unoriginal. I'm not even trying to be a dick here. I don't like that kind of music though anyway for those reasons so maybe you're doing what you're doing well and I just can't tell.
