I got this baby in the mail today. I was lucky enough to see an Ebay bid on it with free shipping. I won the bid at 15 bucks. When I started playing it, I already had some positives and negatives for the games. For the positive aspects, I really like how Nintendo makes each Mega Man distinctly different from the last creation to give it a sense of "freshness." The new addition of collecting P chips (needed to get items, like energy tanks) really isn't my cup of tea, but it's an interesting concept nonetheless. The thing I dislike most about Mega Man IV is the recoil that happens when you shoot your fully charged Mega Buster. I don't know who in Nintendo development thought of this idea, but it is completely stupid. I never recoiled in Mega Man III, so why this one? The gameplay is really challenging, and I can see myself committing a whole summer to just beating this thing.
I also got this game today, with the aid of Ixzion. He found it at a Game Stop for 20 bucks, and he got it for me as an early birthday present. For starters, the damned recoil when you shoot your Mega Buster is gone, thank God, but in place of that, you get this really cool innovation called the "Power Arm" that lets you shoot a fist at your enemies when fully charged. I really like it. The gameplay difficulty is just about the same for Mega Man IV, which I also find favorable. Still, the collecting of P chips returning to this game wasn't what I wanted, but I knew I had to deal with it. I'll comment on one more thing. The boss selection screen is really impressive. They start you off with the usual four bosses, but the graphics of the enemy's facial shot looks like Nintendo really busted their ass at making a good game, at least from a graphical standpoint.
With these two game boy games received today, I am now finished collecting the Mega Man series for Game Boy. There's no need for me to look for a Nintendo collection, because I helped Ixz complete the series last summer when I bought the ultra-rare, and my personal favorite, Mega Man 5 off of ebay.
