Ugly Betty

Let me start by saying that I don't watch a lot of TV, but this show really holds my attention. My Dad and his wife got me hooked on it while I was visiting over the new year. Does anyone else here like it?

I think it's really cute and cleverly done. The writing is great. The only discrepancy is that the actress who plays Betty is too cute to be ugly!

I agree. It'll take more than a bad wig and braces to make America Ferrera ugly. Especially when she smiles. Maybe if they went with full headgear. The finale was good. But I'm ****** they

I agree. America Ferrera is way too good looking to be considered 'ugly', but that's television, I guess.

I enjoyed what little of the show I've been able to watch.

It's based on a Telenovella that aired a while back called "Betty La Fea". I saw some of it. Ugly Betty is way different from the Telenovella.

America Ferrera--she used to play tough girl roles. Young Michelle Rodriguez-like. I liked her in Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. Ugly Betty is an enormous change from how I'm used to seeing her.

I think they ensured her signature Ugly Betty brace-smile for about a million dollars.

Yes, I am a woman. Last time I checked, anyway - I haven't actually SEEN my ovaries, but they punch me from the inside from time to time so they must be there!

Karr and me are big fans of the show too! I laughed so hard when Milhemina's assistant dressed up as Betty for Halloween. The actors are brillant on this show, although at times, I think it can get a lil' far fetched.

I've never seen it, although I am aware of it's existence and America Ferrera is just, meh... Whats with those eyebrows? Why doesn't she just take her finger and brush them to the side? Peoples eyebrows don't grow up like that, the show is probably completely unrealistic.

For some reason I just have never wanted to watch this show, even though it is promoed during ever Lost commercial set.

Of course it's unrealistic. No surgeon in the world is talented enough to turn a man into Rebecca Romijn. But it's unrealistic completely on purpose. And any show with Judith Light (Who's the Boss?) in prison is worth watching at least once.
