    Eternal Sonata (Trusty Bell) demo

I don't know the process m'self, but if you managed to get a Japanese account, you can download and play this demo. IT'S ENTIRELY IN ENGLISH.

It's Eternal Sonata in the U.S. and Trusty Bell: Chopin's Dream in Japan. Whatever you call it, the game is gorgeous. Get a Japanese account, download it, and play it if you can.

The game is looking pretty good so far. Interesting characters, if not a little young.

Pre-order Eternal Sonata at GameStop/EB and get one of these gorgeous faceplates. So perrrty, I'm tempted to go pre-order it right now and I don't even have a 360.

I defintally going to get this game. And now I understand why the main characters are so young. It is a very interesting concept.

                  Eternal Sonata demo on XBL

I really enjoyed it, especially compared to Blue Dragon. There's a lot of interesting aspects to combat, like the time system, where you can run around the battlefrield and make as many moves as you want, but you only have 5 seconds to do so. I also think the light/dark system has potential. Basically your character only has one special move available at a time, which move is dependant on if your character is standing in sunlight/moonlight or shade/darkness. Apparently some enemies will react differently in light than they do in darkness, but I didn't witness this in the demo. I kind of wished there was a way to lock on to an enemy, more than once I ended up swinging at air because I was facing a few inches to the left of the enemy I was aiming for. But I guess locking on to enemies would take away some of the combat freedom of movement they were going for.

The environments looked great, but I'm not a fan of the cartoonish cell-shading style the characters have. They look alright from a distance, but during combat closeups they seemed to have a paper cutout appearance. I liked the monster graphics, though.

Anyways, I think it's worth a download for you guys. Maybe I'll discuss some more after somebody else plays it. John Mora, I'm looking at you.

P.S. No stupid time limit, either.

They never evolved beyond Dragon Warrior III.

Re: Eternal Sonata (Trusty Bell) demo

Played it. It was pretty cool. Looked and sounded great. I liked how quickly the battles went. The Echo system is pretty neat. It's like being provided with constant, tiny limit breaks.

But does this demo speak that well for the game? There were no cut scenes. How do I know that they won't be sluggish and annoying? And there were maybe two kinds of enemies in the whole demo - not counting the when the plant guys transform when they go into the shade, though that is awesome.

Also, the one town, while awfully pretty, had nothing to do. The people in it were boring, as well. And it's weird that the speech box is so wide. And my back hurts. And the camera seems so far away most of the time. It's really great to see everything, but feel like I'm missing out on details when I have no control over it.

And all I know about pairing musical scores is that mine sucked.

There's a second score in the back of the huge flower field. It matches that guy in the town.
