    Game Idea! Yet Again >.>

Since I've never really completed a game. This is my first real idea I think I may finish, since I kinda broke/damaged my leg. Anyways...

The storyline is a little not devolved but it's the idea of game play that I like. You start out in a tower with 12-16 chests ( Most likely 16 ). The chests will magically teleport you to a dungeon or map. Possibly towns. You fight a main boss in dungeon/map/town. And soem side fights, but no random battles since they are a pain and ruin the whole battle system. In the dungeon/map/town, you need to find a treasure item to open the next chest. The last chest will lead you to the boss breaking havoc all over. ( I had a game like this before, except when I finished it, there was to many errors so I deleted it ) Also in the tower there will be a trainer who will send you on battles of a varying difficulty, depeneding on where you happen to be at in the game. Training will be limited so you don't get to strong. That's pretty much it. any feedback would be nice.

It's interesting, but consider whether this is the ideal format (that is, an RPG with battles, on RPG Maker 3) for this type of game. I'm not sure what others will think, but I'm inclined to think I wouldn't have too much fun playing it.

I like it! Sounds similar to something I wanted to do. I want to do a nonlinear game with a single large dungeon that serves as a hub level (much like your tower) for gaining access to numerous field maps. Same basic idea, implemented differently. Of course, there's more to it than that. But that's the basic idea the game builds on. It's on my project schedule.

I'll support any game that favors event based battles over random encounters. Work with this idea and add more to it. Build on it.

Make sure to put puzzles in to spice things up. because a game just based on battling 16 enemies and wandering through twons and dungeons without much of a storyline to carry it would get pretty boring.

Yeah, you'd think so, but then there's Shadow of the Colossus.

          Kidding, kidding.

Exactly. That's why I put my Dungeon Help thread up to get myself out of that dilemma - I've got 12 dungeons in very close proximity. Take a look if you like, I'll try and add more ideas later.

Ok, I may have made y first post above a little unclear. The storylien is undeveloped, which really means I have an idea of what to do as a storyline. But there is a few flaws I need to fix, and I need to also fix teh storyline uo a bit. I don't want to post it yet, because there is flaws and parts that are unclear. But I was just wondering about the gameplay idea, so far.

Sorry for the double post. But just so you know. I am not making this a game. It is a game idea. I am actually doing a different game. But not posting about it until a demo is ready.

In my original RPG idea, I had wanted to do something similar baed on who you chose to be the main hero (and later who was in the party at the time) thus making a single game with 5 completely different games all in one package.

I had it pretty well worked out on RM1 when RM3 was released and then I decided to make the game comprised of 20 main heroes (with anoth 5 hidden characters that could also become part of the playable characters) and each hero had his/her/its own continent that held the main block of that character's storyline, as well as interconnected the character to all the other characters as well as allowing the player to better understand "X Character's" motivation in joining the crusade again evil! ...espically the evil characters!

Although I didn't use a dungeon as the main hub, I did have an HQ town (Inn/Item/Weapon/SAve/Part-edit) and the three airpads in addition to the 5-7 dungeons made the game quite non-linear... but at the same time made the game extremly easy. Being that I couldn't make the player take a specified route through the game, I tried to balence all the different areas to make them all about as hard as the other areas, and the only thing that made any given area "harder" was who the player chose to bring along. Technically, if you picked yourself a favorite character from the get-go, then after the third area was cleared (in some cases even before you cleared any areas at all) the rest of the game that character was more than enough to carry the rest of the team.

Due to this as well as my steadily increasing agrivation with RM3's limitations in addition to the fact that I really couldn't wrap my brain around a few programing concepts, I deleted the game and all its info from my Mem cards to free up space for other projects...

I think that your idea sounds very interesting (as I already tried somehting along the same lines) and I think with some clever programing you make the game extremly enjoyable and balenced as well (controlling the battles/exp. will eliminate the "Tank" characters from taking out the final boss in three hits before he lands a blow ) but I KNOW its not going to be a cakewalk. I'm still going to stand behind you and offer whatever support I may in all your non-linear-hub-oriented-RPG-endevors!!!
