StarCraft MMO Coming

According to CVG, Blizzard will reveal a World of StarCraft-style massively multiplayer online title in Korea next month at the Blizzard World Invitational. While many fans of the original StarCraft were probably expecting a proper real-time strategy game to be unveiled, if CVG's "well placed US sources" are to be believed, they're out of luck.

Blizzard previously confirmed that they are indeed announcing a new product in Korea this month and listed open positions for work on an "next-gen MMO."

With the announcement exactly two weeks away from today, we won't have long to wait to see if dreams of an RTS sequel to StarCraft have been dashed. The only thing keeping the fanboy tears from shooting out of my ducts with the force of a hydrant is the delusional hope that Blizzard will be announcing two products next month, one being an RTS. See, I'm not an MMO kind of guy. Michael McWhertor

Goodbye as in it combines the two things Koreans love most, and their society will surely crumble as nobody leaves their PCs and they die a slow death, leading to the destruction of Korea.

I know that Starcraft has a LOT of fans who are hoping that fine game gets a true sequel... but come on, isn't there enormous potential in a "World of Starcraft" type of game, too?

I swear this is probably because that new Warhammer fantasy MMO is comming out, and they wanna get their crap out before a 40K MMO comes around.

Why the hell would they make a game that makes them money once when the player buys the game, when they can make a game that lets them leech money off the player regularly every month? Plus WoW is probably WAY more popular than most RTS's. Unless it causes a mass boycott of WoW it'll turn out to be a good business move for them.
