    Bees on the brink?

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070502/...CvHjHxH8.s0NUE

I'd take getting stung 100 times if it meant finding a solution to this problem.

The evil organization "W.A.S.P.S." has started killing the mighty "BEE EMPIRE" leaders and soon their domation over human pain will be two fold!

I guess honey will be sold for millions in the future when it is shown that no more bees exist.

I used to be scared of bees stinging me, but now I'm worried about the poor little things.

If the honeybees really do die off to the extent that the food doesn't get pollenated... then we're in big trouble. We already can't feed the 6 1/2 billion of us; if we lose the pollenated foods....

The bees are migrating... signs of future events... over half of our food chain will collapse... they might return... but by then we shouldn't need them.

Organically farmed bees are not dying out as genetically-engineered ones(and/or those fed GE crops) are. The organic bee farmers are reporting no losses whatsoever.

Bees in the wild of course are exposed to plants that have been cross contaminated with GE crops through horizontal gene transfer, and that has caused some of the problem. The changing weather patterns is arguably a more significant factor concerning the damage done to wild bee populations.

Just do a search, and you'll get lots of hits. Usually not from mainstream sources though.

An article suspecting GE crops are helping aid the loss of bees:

                          http://www.spiegel.de/international/...473166,00.html

There are some who suspect that elecromagnetic radiation, from radio towers, TV stations, cell phone towers, and the like is the cause. If that were true, the bees would have started disappearing in localized areas early last century. Further, you'd be able to graph such a trend today. You'd could plot a trend in bee losses with the inverse square of the distance of the EM source in question, measured with a spectrum analyzer. No such trend has been found as far as I know, and the FCC has maps of all the EM sources needed to chart this.

Of course, the concentration of the toxin was ten times higher in the experiments than in normal Bt corn pollen. In addition, the bee feed was administered over a relatively lengthy six-week period.
So when you pump bees with massive amounts of a toxin they die. Well duh.

That's what seems to be happening to our bee populations. They simply consume and/or are exposed to a less concentrated variety, but a toxin just the same.
