Parappa's going portable!

Before DDR, there was rhythmic pressing of the PlayStation controller. They confirmed a US release of this new PSP version.

Seeing how I liked Parappa back in the day, I might get this!

Great news but...

Notable additions include a four-player rap battle mode and eight downloadable remixed versions of the original game's songs.

Good luck finding 3 friends with PSPs. Heck, good luck finding ONE.

And how will these "downloadable" songs work...? Will I be able to play them?!?!?!

OH. Did anyone get Gitaroo Man for PSP yet?! I keep meaning to... but it's still $40.

I've been sitting in the car, yes, now for days.

Ah, PaRappa. This was the game that made me realize that above all, gaming should be an enjoyable, pleasurable experience and the player needs to just sit back and let himself love it.

I actually took it out and played it a bit with my sister over Winter Break. The enjoyment of it hasn't worn off a bit. The gameplay hasn't aged well, however--the game's always had its share of controller-throwing moments where you rap a line perfectly and it docks you. And in the era of perfectly orchestrated, white-knuckle rhythm games (like Guitar Hero, Amplitude, or In The Groove), it does hurt that much more.

I really wish they'd done a better job with the sequels (some people enjoyed Lammy; I didn't find it quite as infectiously fun), or that someone else picked up on the feel of the game, because there's really never been anything quite like PaRappa.

Wouldn't it be great if a Parappa game for the next-gen have DDR Dance Pad support? That'd be kickass.

Forgive me for being a tad scathing, but that would be in lieu of turning Armored Core into a magical girl RPG/Dating Sim involving nine-inch high heels, eels and yogurt.
