    Game Idea

I'm not really sure where I should post this, but here is my game I'm currently working on:

Anselm was a peasant. He had a job as a hunter where he would sell his catch. Until one day, while in the fields hunting giant ants he heard a voice calling him. He turned around and it was a gorilla. A talking gorilla. The gorilla informed Anselm that he was God. He told Anselm to find the holy grail, citing it to probably be in either a far off castle, the depths of Hell, or the warehouse on Main street.

Anselm complied and to aid him on his quest, God sent down his son, Terry, to help him. So now they must find the holy grail. However, a corrupt, megalomaniac king who runs the churches in the kingdom wants the grail for himself, and he will use all at his disposal to stop them making their quest even harder.

The game is a comedy that is kind a cross between Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Dogma.

    Features:

    Humorous Story
    Many pop culture references
    Many mini-games
A hidden character from a classic video game (Yes, with RPGM3)
    Chickens
Coffee and Gatorade as healing items
    Nuns with Knives
    Very few Random Encounters
A Battle arena and a tournament you can enter
    Zombies
Parodies of many things, mainly religion
    Enter and leave Hell
    A very famous weapon

How does it sound? I know a Holy Grail search is a little cliche but I try and spice it up a bit with new scenarios and lots of comedy. I've just started making it.

Well, at first I was gonna ask how God would be uncertain about the location of the Holy Grail when he's, well, God, but then it occurred to me that it was a comedy so logic is irrelevant. "Terry". Heh.

I actually planned to include that in the actual conversation.

      Anselm
: Wait, you're God. You can be everywhere at once. Why don't you know where the grail is?

God: Well, I was out drinking last night...That's not the point!

Glad you like it so far. I've already got the tagline picked out:

"The Funniest Blasphemy Of The Year"

          Well...um...interesting.
So I'm assuming that "Terry" is a talking gorilla?

No. God just appears before Anselm like that, because his true form would cause Anselm's brain to explode. Terry's human. He's Mystic model, color scheme 4.

"Terry" is also one of the members of Monty Python. See? There's a reference already!

Two members. Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones, who also directed the Holy Grail.

Oh, and I think I've got a good NPC strategy. I'm gonna use all the ones neccesary to the game, thenw hen done, I'm gonna use the remaining spots to populate the towns with people who stay stuff like "It's getting cold. Winter must be drawing close" and "Get the Hell away from me!"

Yeah... Or you could make them spoof other Python skits: like Whizzo Butter, and whatnot...

                        Re: Game Idea

I've got an idea for how the mini games will work. I'll take a mansion and put in various people and objects, thet when touched ask you if you want to do a mini-game/quest. When you say yes it will teleport you too the area where the mini-game is (unreachable otherwise).

Also, I'll have a few available from the start (when you gain access to the house.) and then when you complete more mini-games or various things throughout the game, more mini-games will open up.

Also, If I have room, a Hall of accomplishments. When you beat the game, for various things done, you'll enter the hall and see various trophys. For example, beating one of the bosses, say a demon, would unlock a statue in the hall, and when you touch it, it will tell you 'Defeated The Demon.' It would work for beating hard bosses or doing side missions, or finishing certain dungeons.

I don't want these to be too big as too take up too much of my file, but I think they would be cool.

I like the Hall of Accomplishments idea. That sounds like it would be a good motivator to get people to keep trying to find mini quests and beat them.

I got the idea from playing 'Bully.' When you beat certain missions, or collect certain objects, you unlock decorations for your room in the game. Since your house will not be revisted I thought a hall would work well. You can see it at the end of the game. Then maybe a X/X trophies achieved set up using variables? Might be tough. Maybe just a checklist on the wall?
