Do you "vote with your dollar?"

Something I do from time to time is buy a game I like to support the cause, ESPECIALLY if it's a game I know won't be a gabillion seller. Do you guys do this often? And, with what games? Just curious.

I usually stay away from gabillion sellers, mostly because I would rather find gems like Steambot Chronicles and the like.

Well, what kind of causes do you mean?

I occasionally buy a game that I know is mediocre if I think that a well-done sequel to it would absolutely rock. On rare occasion I'll also do this with other types of media... at any rate, I guess I'm "sending a signal" that someone does care about what the company makes, rather than really trying to support a real cause.

For me its the games I know wont get popular or support otherwise.

Stuff by D3 publishing I usually just buy because I like their stuff and they're pretty small.

Same with the Choro Q games, a lot of budget titles.

Well I always usually pay full price for Atlus games. Mainly because they will be hard to find later.

I don't necessarily pay full price for a game unless I thought it was excellent enough that I wanted it on that day.

For games I have some interest in but want to wait on, I wait until they go to Greatest Hits or Player's Choice when they're under $20.

I buy every agetec game that doesnt arrive by surprise at my house 2+ weeks before the release date. Me and Mark have pretty similar game interests, so it's rare that they release something I wouldnt love.

except their puzzle game for the DS. I will not own that.

I was really dissapointed with Fighter Maker two ($16!) then I visted this website. So now I am happy that they are the ones that made RPG Maker.

I too usually only buy games once they're cheap. I did buy RM3 and 1 at full price though. Got 3 the first day and 1 a few weeks after release once I had the money. I didn't decide to buy 2 until looong after it's release. And I've already said that even if the next RM is on a system I won't be getting I'll buy the game.

it's a shame that they never made Fighter Maker for the PC...it'd be much easier to make new 3d character animations and whatnot, not to mention share them online.

Fighter maker looks like it was made for the PC then ported onto a console, I am fairly good at animating people with a mouse and keyboard but no with a controller

Re: Do you "vote with your dollar?"

Well I usually wait till they go down in price a bit, but usually when I go on game buying sprees (Christmas and Birthday usually), I'll pick up a few games at full price. I don't usually purposefully go for the unknown titles, as my collection will attest to, but every now and then when I see a game that looks interesting I'll pick it up. I know I bought RPG Maker 2 at full price because I saw how rare RPG Maker 1 was even used.

Most games I usually wait till their a Greatest Hits or under $30. I don't feel $50 is justified unless it's a really great game.

But of course I normally only buy games, I hardly ever rent. I've only bought a couple of games I didn't like. I also normally buy new unless I can't find it, though that's more about getting the game in good condition with everything.

I've started to try to vary my purchases now though, since eventually I'll get into the games industry and I want to experience a wide variety of games. If I had more money or an income right now I would buy more. But that might be fixed in the next couple of weeks.

                            Kinda.

I feel good about buying great games that are under the radar, but I buy them for my entertainment, not to support the developers.

Only if it's a game I wanna play. Can't think of any recent underdogs however.
