Ive been cooking at a restaraunt for the past year and a half, and the place keeps getting worse and worse. Some of the people there annoy me alot too.
When I started the food was friggin awsome. Then the sous chef guy ended up marrying his girl firend and they moved away. BAM! There goes a bunch of the quality from our stuff right there. I still do everything the exact way he showed me when i first started.
The chef went through a drunken period for a few months. Apparently hes been doing this for years. He'd come in, get all ****** off because we didnt have oranges on the front line, or didnt have the salad station set up half an hour before it should be anyway, or other stupid crap. Hes even smashed a few plates on the wall along the way. Or he'd make a stiry fry for 50 people and since he was wasted out of his mind he dumped like 4 cups of soy sauce into it.... ......But hes been there for over 20 years, so their not gonna just tel him to GTFO.
Boss talked with him, he had like 4 DUIs. 1 more he gets an automatic "Go to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200" card. Hes stopped the drinking bu he just doesnt make stuff like he did a year ago, and he cuts corners all over the place. He uses frozen vegetables for banquets alot now.
The other two male cooks have also degraded. One of them was 1 year ahead of me in the culinary arts program at the university here. Hes picked up so many bad habits. Like they sometimes send out plates of food, where I would fire them. Over cooked brown brocoli thats falling apart, etc.
The other two cooks are old ladies, that have been there for a looooong time, so they've got all their **** together and know what they are doing.
And the dishwasher. OH GOD, I want to punch this guy in the face 24/7. Hardcore oldschool nerd. THICK glasses, has no friends, hangs around at the comic shop when not at work, lives with his parents, sinlge, 43, probably a virgin. Hes also very creepy to talk to. If I had a young daughter, I wouldnt let him anywhere near her. Hes asked one of the young waitresses is she wanted to come to his kinky sex party, and told her she could wear leather. She was alone with him when it happened downstairs. We were just outside after work talking and she ran upstairs all freaked out. He also just sits there and stares at you all the time when he isnt doing anything.
The other thing that bugs me is everybody except for one guy and 3 waitresses, are all over 35, some even mid 40s. I cant really hang out or relate to anything with alot of them. Its like being surrounded by death and decay.
SO ANYWAY...............before this plane crashes itself into the ground, Im taking off.
Handed in a resume at a nice Italian restaraunt looking for some cooks. Kitchen manager happened to be there. Talked with him, and tomorrow on my days off from the crap place Im gonna go in to work for free and see if I like the place, and they like me. Im so exicted.
