I'm not sure where to ask this, so I guess I'll do it here. I enjoy working on sprites, but it is rather tiresome to completely make one from scratch every time. What I want to do is have a couple of human based sprites to work off of. I'm not too good with the human form, you see. If anyone has a couple of male and female sprites that are similar in size, could you please post them? I have had some troubles finding decent specimens so I come to you guys. This would make things a little easier for me.

Re: Uum....
go into mspaint and go to Edit->Select All then reduce the picture down to the desired sprite pixels using resize, then zoom in all the way, turn the grid on, and voila
Thats how I do it anyway, there might be an easier way, Ill post pics in a minute

Re: Uum....
Hey, Gimp users (and it's free, so everyone can be). Heres a great way to make faces into video game looking head profiles (and this might work for sprites, I haven't tried.)
First, Filters- Blur- Pixelate for 2/2. This will get rid of some of the "real world look" of the face. Then, filters-artistic-cartoon with mask radius 20.00 and percent black 0.300.
[EDIT: For cartoon sprites, it's the same deal but the pixelate modify is not 2/2 but instead image width / sprite width and image height / sprite height.]Last edited by hitogoroshi; 04-10-2007, 09:11 PM.

Re: Uum....
Another thing about sprites in general Jamos is head size. Keep in mind that heads usually make up 1/3-1/4 (depending on the height) the size of the person, to make them look cuter as a sprite. Chrono Trigger comes to mind.
But that all depends on what kind of sprite you want....and that's why.
