Monster Farm Online Developer's Blog (Beta to Begin Soon!)

I've got no damn clue as to what's on there. All I know is that they've been updating all month and there are monster breed pictures.

    This this this.

Want breed pictures? You got 'em!

    FANG SUEZO!!!

    More in the links.

Also, the game's site has been updated with more characters and monsters. Including, for some reason, skinny/normal/fat buttons (Just the monsters).

    Monsters.

I can now confirm that the game will feature the following returning breeds:

    Suezo

    Tiger

    Pixie

    Pancho

    Golem

    Dragon

    Baku

In addition to the classics, there are clearly several new breeds, of which we've seen at least six or seven.

These new monster designs and redesigns are really outlandish. It's awesome. Pixie appears to have had the fewest changes, though she's now wearing a bit more. The fat one is goofy, definitely.

    Niiiiiiiice.

If MRDS does well, we may even see this little gem in English.

I like how a confirmation box appears when you try to view a fat pixie.

Is that a Zan? 'Cause that thing is totally wiggy.

Re: Monster Farm Online Developer's Blog (Pitchas!)

It turns out that it isn't a Zan. However, it's a very powerful monster that isn't suitable for beginners. It likes to hang out in caves and such.

Via the craptacular translations courtesy of Babelfish, I managed to learn a few interesting things.

First off, locales may be returning.

Second, the way you raise your monster will ultimately determine it's physical appearance and personality. This can range from skeletal shape to color to additional physical features.

Third, if I've interpreted this correctly, a very large number of species from the previous games will be returning, in addition to the numerous new breeds. Worm and Monol were mentioned as definite possibilities.

There's lots more stuff in there, but I can't make out anything conclusive with Babelfish.

Now THIS is something else. If Gamepot plays their cards right, this just might be the best Monster Rancher yet.

I wonder if a US release would end up being a console port? It's a free PC title, after all, just like Pangya Golf.

Regardless, if this title won't see an English localization, we can always have someone throw together an English patch.

Re: Monster Farm Online Developer's Blog (Pitchas!)

New blog entry with new info. Here's what I managed to figure out this time:

Monsters won't be dying in this game, but they'll reach a point where they won't get any stronger.

There won't be any monster trading, but PvP battles are pretty much certain.

You can only venture with one monster at a time, but you can raise multiple monsters if you'd like. So you're no longer forced to raise several to get anywhere.

Here's the kicker: You'll be able to form/join parties with other persons and go on large-scale Ventures in lieu of your typical MMO.

That definitely confirms that MFO will be an MMO. You know what that means?

Bloody Pavilion Monster Guild, that's what!

I call Guild Leader. The Guild leader will be called the Sausageman.

No dying is nice. No more "put him out to stud or keep training?" internal debates. I can go right to the end.
And the Pavilion Monster Guild WOULD be awesome. I say you should keep the bloody in the actual name.

It's official: Monster Farm Online is an MMO!

Here is the recently-refurbished website, complete with the title theme.

Check out the Report section. It's got a video of the regeneration process in it. Not only that, but one of the menu options is GUILD! Bloody Pavilion Monster Guild it is. Or, "Bippimg", if you will.

The blog's got plenty of new info as well, like battle system and character customization details. If anyone can understand what the hell they say, please enlighten us.

Oh! Almost forgot, it also has the minimum spec required to play in there.

What is the minimum spec? I can't find it.

Also, i find it funny that the screens in the reports section they go from MR1 to MR4 with no mention of 5.

Anyone know what that warning is when you try to make a pixie fat? It's kinda wierd.

MF5's music is in the Music Box, though.

The minimum spec is in the June 1st blog entry. Click on the funny button in the middle of the entry to expand it.

Also, Mocchi is back again. It was obscured in a piece of artwork.

This better work with a 32 MB video too. Else I'm screwed.
