    Monster Hunter Freedom 2

Well, thank god Capcom hasn't completely abandoned western audiences when it comes to this series. Though I would have preferred Monster Hunter Dos, i'm glad we're getting an actual sequel. Then again, with their online services shutting down, we would have likely not played MH Dos for very long anyway.

But jesus christ, we're not getting it until September.

It is sad that they are cutting out the service, because MH was one of my favorite online games. Id hope theyd pick it back up with a next-gen and continue their service

There hasn't been any word of them cutting service for MH, just with them dropping other games (RE Outbreak 2 & Auto Modellista) people are worried they're phasing out their PS2 online games.

                    Re: Monster Hunter Freedom 2

Capcom so far is closing (or already has, haven't checked) the servers for the RE:Outbreak games. Eventually i'm sure they and other companies will begin doing the same for other games on the PS2.

I'm worried that MH will be sometime soon because of the low sales of the game in the states. That's why we never got MH2. Plus even checking lately, the number of people are getting smaller. For people who started MH a bit late, once you logged in, before choosing which 1 of the 3 lands to go to, there were actually two world servers to choose before picking the lands (so there were originally six lands). But because they already closed down one of the worlds since there's not a whole lot of people playing, I'm sure MH is next to get shut down.

They only closed Outbreak File 2, the first is still up. I agree with you though, it's only a matter of time before REO 1 and MH go. Hopefully it'll be a long time though.

                        Re: Monster Hunter Freedom 2

during peak times, i see over 500+ people on(mostly in the early/late evening hours/weekends). in your opinions, how large does the user base have to be for them to consider keeping online longer? maybe even indefinitely? i dont know how much it costs to keep servers up and running, but if the average number of players hovers around that 500 mark, it wouldnt seem like too much. then on the other hand, if there's only a small number, is it worth it to capcom?

i think it should be if they plan on keeping the MH brand strong. the bulk of the gameplay is to be had online!

in regards to RE:Outbreak, was it ever as consistently popular as MH? My guess is that's why they took it offline. there just werent enough people playing to justify its server cost... hopefully, unlike MH, where there's still enough gamer support.

Ah yes! I recently went to Japan and watched MH2 portable in action and I prayed my fingers that there would be a american release. This makes me very glad. Finally real katanas that move like katanas.

I just hope MHF2 is Ad-Hoc and Infrastructure instead of just Ad-Hoc.

Freedom REALLY needed a better online component other than X-Link Kai, and that's unofficial.

Unfortunately it seems freedom 2 does not have infrastructure either. Its a shame but at least I'll be able to play it with my friends. Also there is a downloadable content option so they can keep adding stuff like quests. Maybe they can add infrastructure later.
