    Dood! Disgaea!

I finally got my hands on this game. $44 used but it's totally worth it. I'm pretty far on the story too. I played Maki Kingdom and enjoyed that so I wanted to find Disgaea and finally got my hands on it.

After I play through the game and do everything there is to do I should buy the sequel.

I wasted so many DAYS of my life playing that game. Good choice, Red, there is alot of neat stuff for you to do.

So this is the reason behind your avvie change.

Disgaea's a fine game. You won't be disappointed. Nippon Ichi's good at making games like this.

I couldn't get far in Phantom Brave because the AI was absolutely ruthless and would throw its own units off the board in order to raise itself to several levels above my own people. Is Disgaea as hard as that?

Enemies can't be thrown off the board in Disgaea, but there are some pretty difficult fights thanks to the geo symbols.

You can't throw stuff off the edge in Disgaea. It is a little tough but not really overwhelming.

Disgaea is easier than Phantom Brave. Both are good games.

I still need to play the second Disgaea.

                Re: Dood! Disgaea!

Yeah, Disgaea isn't very hard until you get to the very late parts of the game. And by then, you'll probably be so buffed, a simple strategy could wipe all the enemies out.

Disgaea 2 however, gets harder before that in the main quest, since the game emphasizes geo symbols more like Disgaea's item world does.

I liked the way Disgaea did geo symbols. They didn't get in the way of battles too much, and could definitely turn the tables if used correctly.

The hardest part about Disgaea is trying to take the Senate by force too early.

The slippery maps and round limitations on inviting characters was what killed Phantom Brave for me. I generally don't like having to create several characters of the same class just to get through a battle. The classes should have either been balanced out better, or the invite limit should have gone away...

The slippery maps were just dumb, since you could almost guarantee a character would be knocked off the map when you moved them or when they got attacked. I kept running out of items to invite characters into, and Marona sucks.

Disgaea, however, is awesome. I also played Makai Kingdom before Disgaea, and neither game disappoints.

Bribing a couple of high leveled senate then throwing the weaker ones into them does wonders!

The only complaint I have about the game is you have to be like above Lv. 1000 to survive most of the extra parts of the game. And no matter how high a level you reach there is always someone much higher.

Wait, the people you bribed can help you during the fight?

Oh lordy. Why did I let my brother borrow this?

You have to bribe them, to a point where they'll "love" you though, and for that to happen you have to find someone who doesn't loathe you, and give 'em a whole bunch of items they want.

If you can survive a few high level attacks though, you'll only need one, and you can just throw weaker monsters, to feed your high level powerhouse.

I want Disgaea, as I love La:Pucelle and Phantom Brave. Can't find it either.
La: Pucelle is definantly the easiest. I'm only stuck because my Cullote and Eclair suck and they need to somehow beat an uber opponent all by themselves. IMO, the confine limits are the only real difficulty issue in Phantom (can't fight smart, gotta fight quick.).
