Bob Barker Retires This Summer; Replacement?

    http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20033575,00.html

It sure is going to be weird not hearing his name called when the show begins. Better yet...why don't they cancel the damn thing, out of show of respect?

True. Without Bob Barker, The Price Is Right is NOTHING. It could survive the loss of Rod Roddy (barely), but THIS?

^When you've hosted the show over 3 decades, does it really matter?

I'm really hoping for John O'Hurley. (And I'm hoping he also continues to host Feud.)

Besides the obvious bias against anyone not named Bob Barker (which I totally understand, and also share), I don't think the show will lose much, and in fact may even become better, by replacing Barker with O'Hurley, who has shown on Family Feud that he's sufficiently enthusiastic and still has a nice classic feel to him.

I'm also hoping against all hope that Rich Fields gets yanked. Burton Richardson was far better.

EDIT: I see a lot of people feel the show should be pulled now that Bob's leaving. I can see the reasoning there, but I for one disagree. The show doesn't survive on Bob, even if it does survive on being a hint of the past that we all like to feel. By that token, I think John O'Hurley would be great (and by that token I'd like to see Fields axed), and the show could return to form.

There are shows that should be removed because of an actor--like 8 Simple Rules, once John Ritter died. Keeping that show running--and especially trying to work his death into the plotline--was an insult to his memory, and I was so glad to see the show get yanked. In the same vein, I'm surprised that the network execs couldn't see it coming from a mile away.

It's one of those shows that will go on for a little while afterwards and then die a painful death.

I never got over Rod Roddy's replacement; I'd watch the show, but I just wouldn't be able to enjoy it as much without ol' Bob there. Anyone remember that brief stint of the evening "Price is Right" show? Something tells me I'd like Bob's replacement about as much as I liked the nightime host. It's too bad CBS can't just let the show die with dignity, rather than have the last memories of it as mediocre.

In the beginning the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and is widely considered as a bad move.

I'd like Regis Philbin to be the host of that, but he no longer lives in Hollywood.

                REGIS PHILBIN.....COME OOOOOON DOWN!

We have the technology. If not cloning or robotics, you could easily use a 3d Bob Barker.

The Whammys should host The Price Is Right.

yea i never got over the loss of rod. the guy they got now is a bit of a joke, not the same flare as the old geezer. they have enough episodes to rerun the program for the next 25 years so i dont see why they dont stick with that and do an all out retirement bash to end the series. million dollar game giveaways, extra long show, huge blowout stuff.

if they keep it going it will die out fast. 3 decades of his presence on the show made it a blockbuster hit. damn, this sucks, i wanted to take my grandparents to the show as a present but im not rich enough.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

They should get Tim Allen to do it.

Then you'd know if there was a new car before they opened up the curtain.

"And if you get this right, you'll get whatever's behind *ho hur ho ho huh* that curtain!"
                        ...and that's why.

Don't tell anyone, but they have a way to keep Bob around forever.
