    Valkyrie Profile

I just recently bought VP: Lenneth, and I'm really enjoying it. For the longest time (as some of you might have picked up in my various posts regarding the PSP), my PSP has been sitting in my closet collecting dust simply because of the serious lack of good games (in my opinion). Valkyrie Profile has changed that.

I love this game so far. I'm only on the first chapter, but so far the story is gorgeous, love the battle system, and just love the overall aspect of the game.

I was a bit cautious about picking it up because it looked a lot like a side scroller, which it really is, but after I started playing I learned it was a great game.

I like the storyline, having to collect brave hero's spirits for use in a cataclysmic end-of-the-world battle between gods. It's a bit sad and bleak at times, but I really actually like that.

I guess the only complaint I have is how it's kind of hard to jump around at times. I was in the first dungeon, the artolian mountain ruins, and I got to a point where I couldn't jump back up on a ledge. it took me forever but I figured out a way to use the ice crystal you shoot to get back up. It was pretty frustrating.

After I finish this I plan to get VP2: Silmeria, since I heard it had a good story as well, plus it just looks gorgeous.

Anyway, now that I've given my mini-review, what do you guys think of the game?

I never got the opportunity to play Valkyrie Profile, but I did play Silmeira which is really good. You should pick it up if you liked VP Lenneth.

i absoutely LOVED valkeir profile. i played it many years ago and enjoyed it, then i bought it many years later and still enjoyed it. an overall very good sleeper game. im waiting till the second installment gets a bit cheaper to buy it, i have too many games to play before it so im best off to wait. looking forward to it though.

Good to hear that game is good. One of the few I bought at full price for Christmas and still haven't gotten around to playing it.

I played valkyrie profile when it first came out for playstation. I almost did everything: beat it on every difficulty and beat the bonus dungeon final boss. all I needed to do was get the A ending. My brother got a PSP and VP Lenneth and I got the A ending. Its AWESOME (the game I mean).

                  Re: Valkyrie Profile

The problem with Valkyrie Profile is that it gives you next to no idea how to utilize its features.

Just invest points into skills and roll with it.

Yeah, it doesn't do a superb job of explaining some of the games more complex aspects. I also think so of the platforming (maybe just on the PSP) is a bit poorly implemented

My biggest problem is that it's next to impossible to get the good ending without a strategy guide.

I didn't have too much of a problem finding out how to utilize the game's features. Like Kefka said, just roll with it. Emerald necklaces are a must.

I've only played it once, and am actually on Asgard Hill right now. I think Hard mode is the real way to play the game, but it can be a ***** at times.

                            Re: Valkyrie Profile

Well, I guess it was confusing to me, too. The SECOND time I played it, though, everything clicked, and I was a prooooooo~.

I prefer the skills system of the first game to the second one. The second game, when you find an einherjar, they start with maybe one skill, whereas when you get new characters in the first game, they come with enough capacity points to learn skills with right off the bat, so they're not, y'know, TOTALLY USELESS. I had the same beef with FFTA. When I found out new recruits have absolutely no skills, I started turning them down left and right. And yet they KEEP COMING. It's like games think I like grinding and babysitting. I ain't running a No Child Left Behind program.

                            Less management, MORE FIGHTING.

RPGs nowadays have too much micromanagement...
