According to GameStop, via Kotaku, the PSP Core system drops $30 to $169.99 starting tomorrow. Apparently this is a retail price drop and not just a GS sale. The core pack only comes with the PSP, adapter, and battery so you'll still need to buy a memory stick and of course some games.

Re: PSP Core Price Drop
Can you get over yourself Mora?
Phoenix, there was only one system available for about the 1st year. then they had the premium system that has a 1 gig card, a game and movie for $249, and a pack that has only the system for $199. Looks like the price might be coming down for the core, which probably means a price drop for the premium system too.Vita, 3DS, PSP, PS3, PC, WiiU, Wii & 360
Intel Core i5, Radeon HD 5870, 8gig ram
Anticipating: Warriors Lair, Dragon Crown, Ratchet, Xillia, Rune Factory 4, and more!

Re: PSP Core Price Drop
Exactly what I meant. It's still too expensive in my eyes and in the eyes of most people looking for a portable. Not to mention that the DS has pretty much won the portable console war.Originally posted by Valkysas View PostThie drop is a good thing, but it's not far enough. the PSP hasnt been doing good at all for the past year. They need to drop it down to around 150 so they're more competitive with the DS.
good start, just needs to go further.

Re: PSP Core Price Drop
I dont really think there is a winner or loser in the portable war, mostly because the PSP is still doing incredibly well, especially compared to every other Gameboy competitor that has ever existed.
And seriously, if Japan did not have Nintendogs or the Brain style games, it wouldnt even be doing HALF as well as it is. (Edit) IMO!Last edited by Jeroak Nelave; 04-02-2007, 10:10 PM.Vita, 3DS, PSP, PS3, PC, WiiU, Wii & 360

Re: PSP Core Price Drop
PSP's biggest problem is software sales though. the machine is a pirater's dream. the hardware sales matched up with software sales don't make any sense at all, a lot of people are buying systems but no games. that tells you that people just don't bother buying the games.
The homebrew community is killing their favorite system, and they just don't care. They still rush out constant firmware cracks and custom firmware.
it reminds me a lot of the RM2K situation years ago. they professed to be big fans of the very thing they were killing.
Sony should just stop production of the current PSP, and get a new model out that doesnt have any of the security problems. do away with the damn firmware updates. put stuff on the system, and leave it at that. That one feature is the cause of all their problems.
I like the PSP, I don't like seeing it fail like this.
yeah, the PSP is making a good stand, but it's still the "loser". a "loser" in a hardware war isnt a terrible thing though, the gamecube was the "loser" last gen, but it was still a system worth owning with a lot of great games. You're right when comparing it to the other gameboy competitors. Nothing ever stood up to nintendo like this before, and I dont think anything else ever will.I dont really think there is a winner or loser in the portable war, mostly because the PSP is still doing incredibly well, especially compared to every other Gameboy competitor that has ever existed.Last edited by Valkysas; 04-02-2007, 10:13 PM.

Re: PSP Core Price Drop
Actually... I have a feeling that DQ9 is going to be one of the lowest selling games in the series. I'll probably be wrong, but it is just a feeling.Vita, 3DS, PSP, PS3, PC, WiiU, Wii & 360
