    The Announcement

First off, I'd like to thank everyone for misinterpreting the teaser.

I never once said there was a new RPG Maker title on the way. You guys decided that, not me. Nothing I ever said in my replies pointed to this either, so if you want to get mad at someone, I shouldnt be your target.

I said there was RPG Maker news for a next gen console. this is true.
I said we know the game sharing method. this is also true.
I said it would be familiar to anyone who used RPGM2. of course, it's also familiar to anyone who used RPGM1 and 3.

I said it had been rumored for a while, this is true. I said I dismissed it, this is true.

The announcement is that we are now offering games in the Playstation 3's Virtual Memory Card format.

We haven't converted them all yet, we're only going to do around 10 a week on average. you can head to the game listings to look for the "PS3" link to see what games have been converted so far.

You can also head to the "using the pavilion" link to see how to use these files.

It's much easier than using the max drive, and much faster than using the dex drive.

A lot of people likely won't think this is anything even remotely important, but we've had a few requests for it, and we don't want to leave anyone out. It will also help future-proof the pavilion and all of your creations.

So, thats the announcement. the only april fool's day prank was the chaos last night and the GaoGaiGar music. The rest, you did yourselves.

    Happy Sunday!

    Very nice, Valk.

I had a feeling your announcement would have something to do with Sony, anyway, so I'm not mad.

        Re: The Announcement

I kind of figured early on that this wasn't quite what we were leading ourselves to believe!

That "screenshot" Ixion posted was priceless.
I kind of thought it was funny the Enterbrain logo wasn't distorted along with the rest of the picture, but I bought into it anyway!

At any rate, if it means there's actually a way to play and submit RPGM1 games without a Dex Drive, even if it involves a lengthy and complicated process, a PS2, and a PS3, it's a worthwhile announcement in my book. My newer computer doesn't have the port for the Dex Drive (thought theres something like a million USB ports), and my Dex Drive doesn't work anyway.

with the PS3, you only need a PS3 compatible storage device and a computer. nothing else.

it's actually very easy to do. not even three minutes per game.

I was refering specifically to the larger games for RPGM1, which you'd need to load to the virtual memory, then put on PS1 memory cards one card at a time, then you can play the game on your PS1 or PS2.

Or did you find a workaround for multiple memory card games for PS3?

No, you can just put all the cards on the PS3 and switch the virtual memory cards with the PS button when needed. We didnt know about this feature at first, which is why we thought there'd be incompatability. I tested it in full on Monday.

besides, the PS3's memory card adapter is one-way only. you cant put files on a memory card with it. once they're in the virtual memory card format, they stay like that.

Well that kind of sucks. So is there no way yet to ever put them back on the memory card? I'm sure someone will eventually find a way, but how reliable it will be will be the question.

                  Re: The Announcement

I think it would be possible for someone to write software that used the memory card adapter itself (it's a USB device, and registers on computers) to put the files onto a memory card. its just a matter of time until someone does that.
