    The Announcement

First off, I'd like to thank everyone for misinterpreting the teaser.

I never once said there was a new RPG Maker title on the way. You guys decided that, not me. Nothing I ever said in my replies pointed to this either, so if you want to get mad at someone, I shouldnt be your target.

I said there was RPG Maker news for a next gen console. this is true.
I said we know the game sharing method. this is also true.
I said it would be familiar to anyone who used RPGM2. of course, it's also familiar to anyone who used RPGM1 and 3.

I said it had been rumored for a while, this is true. I said I dismissed it, this is true.

The announcement is that we are now offering games in the Playstation 3's Virtual Memory Card format.

We haven't converted them all yet, we're only going to do around 10 a week on average. you can head to the game listings to look for the "PS3" link to see what games have been converted so far.

You can also head to the "using the pavilion" link to see how to use these files.

It's much easier than using the max drive, and much faster than using the dex drive.

A lot of people likely won't think this is anything even remotely important, but we've had a few requests for it, and we don't want to leave anyone out. It will also help future-proof the pavilion and all of your creations.

So, thats the announcement. the only april fool's day prank was the chaos last night and the GaoGaiGar music. The rest, you did yourselves.

    Happy Sunday!

    Re: The Announcement

Once I saw what was posted at the mag, I thought, wow, okay, not PS2 but awesome. Then I knewit wasn't an April Fool's joke. Now, oh....busted!

But still, having games preserved in PS3 format is something pretty cool. Not as cool as actually having what we all thought (or hoped) we might be having, but yeah.

Well, Ixzion and Valk. Good team work on this one.

Yeah, I was just clued in on that, and after 36 hours with no sleep Im kinda losing it...

Although I am kinda disappointed in this, I was sort of expecting it, it just seemed too obvious, but I seemed to have fell for it, and I didnt read the post clearly enough and I even fell for it AFTER reading it, I thought converting games to PS3 format was a "bonus" thing

          stupid, stupid me

Now everyones going to have a laugh at my expense, so go ahead, laugh til your sides hurt

Nah. We were in your same exact boat an hour an a half ago. Thinking maybe april fool's joke, but hoping for a new Maker. And...oh well.

                Re: The Announcement

Does this mean I can stop lamenting my lack of a Dex Drive and start saving for a PS3 and one of those save converter things?

If so, then this is great news.

                  Re: The Announcement

On Sunday, I will make a major announcement regarding RPG Maker on a next-gen console. Yes, I recently shot down all hopes of it happening anytime soon, but it seems that action was premature.
What you explicitly shot down was that a new console RPGM was in the works. So how the heck was that premature? This was clearly meant to deceive us, which might be funny if you hadn't strung us along for an entire weekend to do so.

EDIT: Good research Dyre... though the validity of it would rest on what you call "recent."

so if you want to get mad at someone, I shouldnt be your target.
Come on, that's kind of BS... I'm sure you went through a lot of conscious effort to not explicitly deny a new RPG Maker was coming. Though I'm sure you know all of this already...

Actually, he once said that they wouldn't support the PS3 file format, I believe.

                      Re: The Announcement

DING DING DING! We have a winner!

Yes, I was asked if we would have any games available in the PS3 format, and I shot that down! and what do you know, it was premature, because I got a PS3 monday! Thats what the "rumors going around on the forums were", because there were rumors that we would eventually do it.

Yes, I was intentionally vague, and that confused people, and thats what made this funny. Seeing what direction everyone decided to run with that was hilarious. I figured someone would have interpreted the teaser as the pavilion supporting the PS3 virtual memory card format.

I went out of my way to deny the existence of a new RPG Maker.
Things of note that I said:
"Who said there's a new RPG Maker?"
                          "It's not RPG Maker 4"

LOL and everyone took 'it's not RPG Maker 4' to mean that the numbering would follow the japanese #'s. That's too great.

Big difference there--between having a screenshot of some sort of gameplay and the fact that you implied it has a title, only the most skeptical would think it wasn't some sort of new-game announcement.

If you didn't want hype for a new game to spread, you would have said "like I said last month, guys, there is NO NEW CONSOLE RPG MAKER planned, nor any RPG Maker releases for American shores. But we've got a new Pavilion feature coming on Sunday." Instead, you said "Wait til Sunday for some really BIG news related to RPG Maker."

So well done for pulling the wool over everyone's eyes, it was nicely orchestrated and all, but you've got to be more understanding if some people are a little angry about this, and not just angry in general, but angry at you.
