View Full Version : RockMan.EXE Create-a-Navi Contest
I plan on entering the RockMan.EXE Create-a-Navi contest (take a good look at the "gibberish" in the topic; It's pronounced "Rockman" with a Southern hint). I've got a number of ideas for this; so many that I can't really decide on one.
So! I decided to post, one by one, information regarding one of my eight original Navi designs and, if possible, Navi versions of a couple of Classic series Robot Masters. I will be taking suggestions for each of them prior to finalizing each of them and having them drawn (Lo, Paul/someone else).
Afterwards, an elimination dealie will take place in which Pavilion members will vote for their favorite Navi design. The winner will be submitted and, God willing, pop up in RockMan.EXE 6, should it win.
I'll post the first Navi's information later on. Let us eat the brown butter.
It's more of "Rowkmayn". A little Southern US bit in there.
I fix later.
:minotaur
Anyway, as a note, first up is DragoonMan. Info at a later date.

Man, I think they would have been better off making
up thier own robot masters in Mega Man 5 and 6. :lol
Dead-on correct about that...
Tomahawk Man?
Yamato Man!?

tomahawk man was worth it just for his stage's music.

Nothing ever will.

Hell yes. The Advantage did a bunch of MM2 songs... all kick-ass.
Alright, here's the skinny regarding my first Navi design; DragoonMan.
DragoonMan is a digital dragoon knight (Duh). He's clad in green light-yet-thick dragoon armor with an angular helmet similar to Kain's from FFIV, only it covers everything but his eyes, sort of like a mask (he has no nose). His hands and feet are metalic grey. He has amazing jumping power to accomodate his spear, his main weapon. Unlike YamatoMan, he dosen't carry his spear around. His arms can actually turn into spears (rather, up to his elbow. It would be tough to aim if it too up his whole arm and he became joinless, sort of like tying a broom to your shoulder and trying to disarm a bomb). I'll make a Flash sketch animation to show everyone the process a bit later.
DragoonMan is a rather mysterious character. He's nice, however he usually dosen't hang around with others much. He does enjoy company from time to time, though. He tries to focus on improving his battle capabilities, but gets irritated when Navis take advantage of those weaker than themselves. One can infer from this that he dosen't wish to fight those weaker than himself, which is in fact true. He brandishes his spears with great skill and has no apparent weak points, excelling at least slightly in every area.
Special Attacks: Power Pierce - DragoonMan turns each of his arms into spears and they lengthen, shooting forward with great force and attacking two whole rows.
Warp Strike - DragoonMan disappears briefly, then appears before MegaMan suddenly and thrusts with a spear arm.
Aerial Raid - DragoonMan leaps into the air and, after a few seconds, crashes onto a random area. This attack does the most damage.
ODD FACT: For some reason, he's obsessed with massage chairs.
I'm willing to take any opinions/suggestions, whether it involves his physical appearance, abilities, etc.
Hey, Frankenstien's monster rejects, werewolves and blob monsters originated one place and popped up elsewhere.
The above may not be a good enough argument, but I'm gonna give it a try, anyway.
Next up; LinkMan.
EDIT: Oh, and Paul, can you change the title to "RockMan.EXE Create-a-Navi Contest" or something?

tomahawk man was worth it just for his stage's music
Saying any robot master is worth it "just for the stage music" in any MM game is like saying breathing is worth it just for the air.
BTW, I think snake man's music and Guiles theme from SF are the same tune.
(I've listened to both and they sound REALY simmilar)
Approximately 12 hours 'till the posting of LinkMan's info. Shall we stay on topic?

well, no, not unless you speed up the tempo on Guiles theme (and then only the MIDDLE part of the snakeman stage music sounds like Guiles theme.) I wouldent be surprised though, they are both Capcom games, so I'm sure they recycled game music from time to time to save money on production costs.

is Linkman just Link from Legend Of Zelda but as a man?

No. he's some nerd with one of those "intergrated computer" rigs. He's always onling looking for ways to defeat mega man. When you defeat him Rush gets the Google Beam, useful for finding hidden objects, and discovering the weakness in a robot master, and you get the Link Cannon, a device that fires the type of weapon best suited to defeat the last enemy scaned with the Google Beam. The Cannon has infinete energy, but you can only have rush scan 8 items before his juice runs out.
No, I actualy have no Idea.

someone's gonna get a ban warning for topic hijacking!
I'm glad I said "approximately". I overslept the other day.
Anyway, here's the information on my second Navi design; LinkMan.
LinkMan's a humanoid Navi like MegaMan/SearchMan/Roll/etc. with blonde hair of medium length, blue eyes the physical appearance of an 18-year-old. He lacks a helmet and instead dons an officer-esque hat. His body is ice blue and white and dons light grey gloves. He appears to wear what might be considered a middle-ranking officer's coat, with slightly puffy shoulderpads, yet not the type of thing Colonel.EXE wears. He leaves it open, and at the back, as it nears his legs, it splits into three strips that drop down to his ankles, similar to a l33t trenchcoat. In addition, he as a few slots on his body, two on each shoulder (one at the front and the other behind) and two on each leg joint, along with a few other, smaller ones on his arms and chest. Why? I'll explain shortly.
LinkMan is a law-enforcement Navi. He is quite young, however he's been successful in rounding up a large number of criminal Navis and operators. He has a very strong sense of justice and is inexplicably loyal and devoted to the justice system itself, never questioning it. Unfortunately, he's occasionally prone to deception and a bit naive. Oddly enough, he can also be rather hard-nosed. He really enjoys reading message boards and usually spends his free time doing just that. He's friendly towards everyone but those whom he considers suspicious.
As for his main battle asset, he protrudes chains from the slots on his body, which he can manipulate quite well, proving useful in incapacitating those under arrest without engaging in battle. When necessary, though, he uses them to fight without hesitation. In battle, his chains are lethal, like metalic tentacles. He has deleted his fair share of Navis with his impressive power.
Special attacks: Chain Flurry - LinkMan rapidly slams every area in sucession in a clockwise or counter-clockwise motion with his chains. This attack can be hard to avoid.
Constriction - LinkMan constricts the opposition and gradually lowers the Navi's HP in chunks. More of an annoying technique than a seriously damaging one.
Panel Thrust - LinkMan sinks his chains into the ground and they shoot up like stalagmites in random spots in the Navi's area.
Chain Sweep - LinkMan sweeps the whole area with his chains. This attack is unavoidable.
ODD FACT: He thinks CSI sucks.
Pop in tomorrow for no.3!
Since this topic didn't get much attention, I decided to take a little break. But now that the deadline's closing in, I'm gonna do more than one Navi per post and edit the previous ones for attacks.
Here's GMN-003; KetchupMan:
KetchupMan is a moderately large, somewhat bulky red Navi. His torso looks like a soda dispenser Apple would make, with a Ketchup dial at the top-center. His upper torso can be removed and aimed like a cannon, as his thick arms are also connected to his backside via grey tubes. His head looks like the top of a red plastic ketchup squirt thingie, whatever you call it. He has slightly long legs and long feet with a ring of greyish white around the bottom of his feet and each of his joints as well as his abdomen and arms. His hands are silvery and have barrels at the end of each finger (guess what those are for). His CutMan-like eyes tend to have a lazy, yet goofy expression.
This guy's a wacky nutjob. Advocate of all that is tasty and high in fat, he goes around yelling "KETCHUUUUUUUP!!!" as an intro cry spreading the love that is ketchup and fast food. He has a great tendecy to strike countless ballet poses, including wild pirouets and attacking opponents in Netbattles "En Pointe". He loves entertaining people, however he's quite sensitive about a number of things. His special ability is squirting digital ketchup with very high pressure. This ketchup can cause quite a bit of slipperiness and becomes very sticky after a while, incapacitating Navis. Due to his ballet skill, he has great evasion abilities and can take the enemy by surprise with powerful kicks. Overall, this guy's crazy.
Special attacks: Ketchup Cannon - KetchupMan shoots high-pressure ketchup streams across one row.
Tasty Bomb - KetchupMan tosses a gooey light-brown-and-green bomb vaguely resembling a hamburger at the opponent's area. This attack causes damage and incapacitates.
Pirouet Kicks - KetchupMan does a wild pirouet in place, preventing damage, and every few seconds, suddenly appears before the opponent and kicks the Navi hard. It takes quick reflexes to avoid these kicks, as they come out of nowhere.
HYPER KETCHUP CANNON - KetchupMan unfastens his upper torso, aims it at the opposition and fires 3-5 powerful ketchup streams across two random panels.
ODD FACT: He thinks Ronald McDonald is hot.
Now for GMN-004; JetMan:
JetMan is a white Transformer-esque Navi capable of transforming into a fighter jet. His body structure is similar to that of Starscream, only his pointy head springs out and his face hides inside it to become the head of the plane in addition to moving his chest up. He has no mouth or nose and his eyes are a big black visor with a horizontal red light spanning the middle (which is what he actually sees with). His hands are black and he has a ring of red on each arm and leg. He's got a missile bay at the bottom of his body when in jet form, whereas in bipedal form he fires them out of his chest. His arms are equiped with laser cannons that are usually hidden. He also has blades that shoot out from the tops of his hands.
JetMan is bada**. He packs a hell of a lot of power and uses it very effectively. No normal Navi stands a chance against this guy in battle. He does what he has to in order to achieve his goals, so he can be quite cold. He dosen't really care much about others and would sacrifice a teammate without hesitation if it means getting the job done. He prefers to work alone, though. He has a sophisticated radar program that aids him in battle and during other scenarios, like espionage.
Special attacks: Turbo Jet - JetMan turns into a jet and lunges at the opposition. This attack does a lot of damage.
Missile Salvo - JetMan opens his chest missle bay and rapidly fires a barrage of missles across every row for about 5-8 seconds. This attack is extremely difficult to avoid.
Vertical Missile - JetMan releases a backup missile launcher from his back and fires a number of vertical missiles in the opposition's area.
Arm Blade - JetMan protrudes his blades from his arms and dashes across the screen thrice, once per row, slashing the opponent on contact.
Shock Laser - JetMan exposes his laser cannons and fires at the opposition across one row. This attack incapacitates the opponent.
Mega Missile - JetMan turns into a jet and releases an enormous missile from his missile bay. JetMan then moves up and down the rows, then suddenly fires the missile at the opponent. This attack does the most damage in one pop.
ODD FACT: His lifelong dream is to find Optimus Prime's email address, which is rumored to be hidden somewhere on the Internet. The rumor was a farce, but no one could work up the heart to tell him.
I only have time to post one Navi today, so let's get this over with. I give you the description of the fifth Navi, GamerMan:
GamerMan's appearance is rather difficult to describe. His head resembles BurstMan's, however it's bluish-black and the rook-like points at the top of his head are long, white needles, each one arched about 65-70 degrees outwards. His shoulders are grey game controlers which can be detatched. In this state, the controlers are connected to his torso via cords. His torso is a slightly darker color. He has a monitor on his chest that projects images and allows him to change the appearance of the area surrounding him. It can also be used to play games. Images almost never appear on the monitor itself, as it's projecting and field-altering capabilities make this unnecessary. Below his monitor is an optical disk drive, and on his back is a cartridge slot. His legs resemble those of FireMan.EXE, only they match the color of his head. His arms are also the same color, however he wears close-fitting, rubbery gloves to improve his grip. These gloves are white and black. He always has a confident expression.
GamerMan's a gamer to the end. He was programmed to be the ultimate digital gaming rig, capable of playing new releases and legendary classics flawlessly without the need of a game console (Although a physical screen and a controler are necessary to play games with him). He was made with great file capacity and is capable of storing large ammounts of save data. Thanks to this, GamerMan gained incredible videogame-playing skills, capable of trumping any human player. Thus, he's extremely confident in his abilities. He also has extensive gaming knowledge. He's quite zealous about his views, though, and can't tolerate ignorance or fanboys.
In addition to his impressive gaming skill, he's an expert hacker. However, he almost always uses his hacking knowledge to crack game data to try and find and exploit any glitches he runs into. Also, he has a special digital manipulation program that allows him to project video and change the appearance of the surrounding area to his liking, as mentioned prior.
In the case of Netbattles, while his skill in this field dosen't match his gaming prowess, he's still quite confident. However, he's quite a sore loser, constantly blaming his defeat on lag and cheap shots.
Special attacks: Disk Shot - GamerMan fires three optical disk at the opposition in quick succession.
Virus Summon - GamerMan grabs one of his controlers and inputs a certain button code, summoning a virus. The virus depends on the code he inputs.
FPS - A lightgun materializes in GamerMan's hand and fires speedy, accurate shots at random areas in the opponent's field.
Field Change - GamerMan randomly alters the battlefield. Some of the possibilities include a combination of random holes, ice panels, stone cubes, etc.
Cartridge Roulette - GamerMan generates a random cartridge and inserts it into his cartridge slot, triggering a random game-related attack (Mage using Fire Magic, soldier in a tank, knight with sword, SHORYUKEN!, etc.).
ODD FACT: He wishes to make fanboys legal hunting game.
