    Some questions.....

It's come to my understanding that you can submit game ideas here. Well, I'm interested in doing something like that, and I'm actually very familiar with RPG Makers 1 and 3 (not 2, I'm not good at using it.) I just have a few questions before I take that first step.

    1. Is it all right to make remakes of existing RPGs? For example, at one point, I was working on a Sword of Vermilion remake for RPG Maker 3. I can come up with something original, of course.

    2. I want to try and convince Misty if she would work on an RPG with me. Can two people work on one game, or is there a guideline where only person must work entirely alone?

    3. How do you submit and download games from this place?

Well, that's pretty much it. Thanks in advance.

Well even though it seems Misty could have answered these for you

    1. Sure why not, though just realize when you do that your game is probably going to be compared to that game, so might not be the best choice. I know there are a few Harvest Moon clones, and though they may be good, I personally wouldn't play them that long as I could just play Harvest Moon.

    2. Well there is no guideline against it, but your game certainly would be one of the first completed by multiple people not with RPG Maker 1. Pretty sure RPG Maker 1 is the only one that has had games completed by multiple people, because it is possible to split up. One person works on the scenario, one person on the system, and maybe another on art. As for Misty, well that's between you two, though I'm not so sure she'll be keen on working with others anytime soon, given her last experience with it.

    3. For RPGM2&3 games you need a device called a Max Drive (well technically you just need the disc that comes with it, any USB drive will work with the software). For RPGM1 you need a DexDrive. Both of these can usually be found on Amazon or similar places.

For submittal you make a post in the appropriate Submission board, then it will be put up on the main page. For downloading the games, goto the main page (www.rpgmpavilion.com) then click on games under the RPGM you want them for.

Well, I could have, but he never asked me.

Anyway. Bomberman, you remember all the **** we went through during our Dragon Fantasy days, so you understand why I'm kinda wary about working on a team this time around. But if you want us to get together to make a game, let's talk. So long as it's just you and me, I can deal with that. Less stress, and less paperwork. You're good at writing the stories, so I'll leave that up to you, of course.

Just be prepared to take some criticism when you present your ideas (or ours!). That's cool, though, because you can learn from their advice and work even harder to make it better. That is where demos come into play. You basically have a short sample of your work to present to everyone and they'll give you feedback. With the feedback, you can fix problems, bugs and other things so that the game will run better.

So, talk to me if you want me onboard to help.

We have no restrictions on the types of games people make, or how they go about making them.

One thing anyone remaking a game must understand though, is that if the original game's creator asks us to take it down, we'll do so immediately.

I agree with Valk, Bomb. Try not to copy other peoples' ideas to the point where it's the exact same game. In fact, try to avoid copying another person's ideas altogether if you can. The key here is that we want to go for something completely original. You know, a story we made up on our own. If we borrow too much from another person's game idea, it's not only unfair to the original creator of the game, but also unfair to the people playing it because they want to play something different.

I myself have nothing against people remaking games on RPGM, but I rarely enjoy playing them, most often because I've played the game they're based on. you limit your audience by remaking a game for that reason.

Ah, I understand. It might be better if I came up with an original idea. I don't have too much of a problem with that.

Maybe I'll come up with something soon for you guys to look at.

Just out of curiosity, Bomberman, are you going to be making this game on RPG Maker 1 or 3?

                  Re: Some questions.....

We will probably start with RPG Maker 1 since the stories Misty, me and a few other friends come up with are pretty ambitious and probably won't go well with RPG Maker 3's limitations. We intended for Dragon Fantasy to be a series. Well, you all know what happened to that dream. It blew up in smoke and the whole thing was abandoned.

If I can convince Misty to work with me, it'll just be us. Maybe another friend if he wants in. We'll work as a smaller development team this time around. It'd be better that way. Problems can be solved with little or no effort because the base is a lot smaller. I promised her we'd work as diplomatically as possible should we start something up again.

I would be more than happy to work with you if I were assured that it wouldn't end up like the Dragon Fantasy debacle. Of course, a group of two or three is manageable. Again, let's talk about this. I'm open for any sort of discussion.
