    Map editor?

Please help me with my map editor problems. I need to know how to work the controls. And, how do you get those texures like in the preset maps? I can't find them on the texture menu.

    Don't you have the manual?

RPGM2's map editor interface is horrible. tons of strange button combos that I cant imagine ever being able to memorize.

All I know is hold square and press a direction and it will change the slope.

www.rpgmmag.com has scans of the manual. that should be a huge help.

Also there is a really good topic on Doans about this.

            http://doansdomain.proboards27.com/i...ead=1155550701

It's very complete, and will tell you how to make certain kinds of terrain and has all the button combinations and such. A really great resource.

One of the members made a video about this that really really helped me understand it more. I'd just go searching through the RPGM archives for it.

The map editor is rather sadistic. Though, now it is second nature to me.

                  Re: Map editor?

I found i got better results with the map editor when i leveled it out instead of trying to work with hills and slopes. For example, if you wanted to make a piece of elevated land i would stack several rounded but level shapes on top of each other. Makes it a lot easier to place objects and create different land formations - also mixing different textures together in small areas also improves the way it looks.

The worst part about the map editor is it's lack of variety. It doesn't allow you that many different textures per map and only one texture for trees - so it makes it very difficult to make a detailed world map with different landscapes, such as an arid desert like region to the south and a snow covered forest to the north.
