A while back, I was working on weapons for one of my games on RPGM3, and I notticed that, as I edited my weapons, the color effect "yellow" and the Poison special effect had been mysteriously added (in the case of shields, the Anti-Poison effect had been added). Undaunted, I set them back to normal and continued working. However, when I attempted to edit one paticular weapon, the game just blacked out. the PS2 was still on, there was just nothing but pitch darkness on the screen, and it stayed like that until I turned it off. I started RPGM3 up again, and I encountered the same problem. I was eventually able to find the weapon that made the game black out and deleted it. I haven't had any problems since, but I still don't know what happened. I was hoping someone else did.

Re: Was That a Glitch?
Of course, we'd be interested in knowing which weapon it was. That way other people who have used the weapon can tell you if they've encountered similar problems.
Also, that's too bad that you deleted it because you could have uploaded the glitch for other people to verify it.

Re: Was That a Glitch?
I don't think so. For what it's worth, the weapon's model was Sword 9, it had a yellow color effect, "Effective against Demons" as a special trait, and it's name was "Shining Sword" (I don't remember what its stats were). And I wouldn't have uploaded it since I don't have anything to upload it with. Besides, I was going to delete it and its equivalent shield anyway.

Re: Was That a Glitch?
Actually, I have had the same problem before (with a weapon, but I don't know the number) and it caused my game to "crash" just like you described. The only way I found to remedy the problem was to delete the troublesome item...
The next problem I ran into was that all my items were listed in order of power (least-most) so I ended up having to delete the 20+ items after it as well to satisify my OCD nature, as well as keep everything that was saved in my game in line with all the backup data that I keep on my computer.A God from the Machine - Menander

Re: Was That a Glitch?
Ive never had this problem fortunately, and to fix that problem magus, I always leave 20 spots reserved for each thing in order of healing items, life items, magic items, status damage items, status support items, etc...., that way if I need to add something later I can put it in its proper place

Re: Was That a Glitch?
I usually pre-plan my games, though, so even leaving extra spaces doesn't help too much. With RM1 it didn't mater, you add or delete at any point and still keep the order intact, but 3 is too automatic where items are concerned for me...A God from the Machine - Menander

Re: Was That a Glitch?
NO no no... I'm using 3 with this glitch, butwith 3 it auto-moves all my items/equipment in the next available slot. Even IF it didn't (or doesn't), I think I would feel better erasing everything so that it doesn't keep happening, you know? ...an extra few minutes beats and extra few hours...A God from the Machine - Menander

Re: Was That a Glitch?
oh yeah 3 does auto move stuff doesnt it, I was thinking about RM1
Do you know if lets say you created a Great Sword, put it in a few events then deleted Great Sword and made a new Great Sword by the same name in a different slot will it auto-link to it or will it delete the event information??

Re: Was That a Glitch?
Oooh... Well, as you can create more than one item with the same name, I'd assume it tracks item by number.
That being said, it'll do one of the following:
a) Game searches for 19:Great Sword and can't find it, so it errors you
b) Game searches for 19:Great Sword and finds 19:Bunny Carrot instead, and applies the changes automatically
3) Game searches for 19:Great Sword andcan't find it, so ignors whatever you wanted 19:Great Sword to trigger in the first placeA God from the Machine - Menander

Re: Was That a Glitch?
It happened again.
This time (different game) it was with a weapon called "Magic Stick". Settings: aside from the dagger "stick" model, it had a yellow color effect, 10 physical attack bonus (and slightly higher magic attack bonus), and was effective against ghosts.
This is a problem for me, because this time I actually want the weapon (and I want to edit it, too). I tried copying the weapon to no avail. I still have it, and I'm hoping i can still use it in gameplay without crashing.

Re: Was That a Glitch?
Hmm...that's really weird.
Instead of copying it, how about deleting it and trying to recreate the same weapon from scratch and seeing if the totally new one does the same thing?

Re: Was That a Glitch?
Maybe... I'll have to do that eventually because my character can't equip that weapon anymore.
But because I want to have all my items of a certain type together (and I don't like sorting them that way), I'll have to make all of my treasures first, then copy all my daggers down... and delete the originals.
