I think what makes this different is that instead of paying for a good score, they were paying for a bad score for a competitor. While both are bad, this is far more dangerous, IMO.
I've actually played TA and TA:K There is nothing stopping me from buying this game. Plus it just looks plain awsome *Prays that his computer can run it*
We're happy to report that the person who started the bribe rumor on the Gamespot forums has admitted it was a lie, so we've removed mention of the rumor from this story. Their rumor post has also now been removed at Gamespot, and mention of it on the Gas Powered Games forum has also gone.
I think the guy that started the rumor got a bribe, to say his rumor was a lie.

The requirements are pretty steep. I'll probably pass over this for C&C3. Then end up forgetting about it two weeks later in favor of SC.
TA was one of the few RTS games I could just play against a computer for an hour and have fun (if you had an AI mod that is to make the computer not stupid). It was also one of the first real 3D RTS games out there not important but cool trivia. When SC (Supreme Commander) was announced I really wanted it... badly.
