I think in order to engender trust in our users, we have to share some things that might be not quite perfect, but are ready to give you an indication of what's coming. So we could say, "You know, we're not sure when it's coming, but we're going to have DVD upscaling on Playstation 3." There you go. There's a scoop for you.

He uses it as an example if things they could announce, but at the same time it sounds like he's announcing it. well, it's probably true, because I dont think he'd use that as an example unless they were doing it.

So is this their "I'm sorry" for blacklisting Kotaku? Because I thought they were gonna have nothing to do with them anymore. Or did this announcement come before that debacle?

I believe it means upping the image to the bare minimum of hi-def, which is 720i or maybe 720p.

720p or 1080i, depending upon the resolution your TV supports.
