    Networking Between Computers

Does anyone know how to set up a network for full access between 2 computers on a router? Ive been trying to set it up for like an hour and NOTHING, I mean come on...how hard can it be?

I'm using Vista, and Im so frustrated with it its not even funny, and the stupid help and support section does nothing for me

Dont tell me "click connect network" or anything like that, Ive already tried everything, perhaps its just something Im overlooking, I dont know...

Im trying to create a network drive in "My Computer" that leads to the other.

sorry to come across as an *** im just extremely frustrated, Ive done it before using win98 but this is a totally different setup

Here I come Pav, like the Kool-Aid man barging into a funeral! Oh yeah!

Well not having Vista I'm not sure how they changed networking. That said you should be able to just goto network neighborhood (or whatever it's called now), then just share all the drives on both computers and access them from network neighborhood.

Now one thing that could be happening is Vista Computers are not accessible from XP computers and vice-versa (this was the same with 2000 and XP, and EXTREMELY retarded, given their own the same kernel). So I would recommend finding a FTP server and setting that up on both computers and using FTP to get files. It's likely more secure (if set up correctly), and faster.

But if you insist on using Windows built in networking tools you should be able to just use Add Network Place, and then just use \\computername\folder to create a network drive to that folder. Or right clicking on My Computer and choosing Map Network Drive with the same address (make sure you connect using the correct user name, and not the one to access your computer). But honestly Windows networking has always sucked, and been god-awfully slow, so I would recommend learning how to setup an FTP for your network only (your router firewall should block incoming FTP connection attempt, but make sure you secure the FTP server and only allow the other computer).
