    Nemesis

    http://www.npr.org/templates/story/s...toryId=7623461

It's an article about how we run our government. It's Terr-caliber in it's length, but it's a good read. I myself have not read the book itself, all I've read actually is the excerpt on that web page. I'm going to go check out the book from my local library though, or buy it if I must. I only share this with you in the hopes you might read it, and someday, somehow, pass on the knowledge to someone else. Never lose your ability to think and judge things logically, when you do, the stronger willed will sweep in and strike. They can perhaps use you to gain power, or maybe just make you a slave to your own mentality, furthering their ideals. Remain strong in mind, and never accept blindly what others tell you. I have faith in all of your intelligence, now I hope you have the same.

General Tommy Franks, commander of the American assault on Baghdad, for instance, went so far as to predict that another serious terrorist attack on the United States would "begin to unravel the fabric of our Constitution," and under such circumstances, he was open to the idea that "the Constitution could be scrapped in favor of a military form of government."
This is pretty much what the neoconservatives want. A military form of government that is corporate controlled.

The crisis of government in the United States has been building at least since World War II.
I'd say even earlier, back to when the Federal Reserve system was created. However, under Rooseveldt, many of our rights were rapidly eroded. He pretty much started the war on drugs, under which we have basically lost the 4th and 5th amendment and the 2nd amendment has been dramatically eroded. During his time as president, we also lost the 1st amendment.

As the philosopher Hannah Arendt wrote at the height of the Cold War, "It is no secret that the billions of dollars demanded by the Pentagon for the armaments industry are necessary not for 'national security' but for keeping the economy from collapsing."
Nothing wrong with having less economy. Just take it out of profit margins and tax revenues so the rest of us don't have to decrease living standards. Too bad our government and industry are hell bent on maximizing revenue from the people to them, and manipulate our laws to achieving that end.

From the founding of the republic to the moment of President Dwight D. Eisenhower's farewell address in 1961, some of our leaders have warned us that the greatest threat to our republican structure of government is war, including its associated maladies of standing armies, a military-industrial complex, and all the vested interests that develop around a massive military establishment.
Nevermind that keeping a standing army during a time of peace is technically unconstitutional(See Articles on Confederation, and understand those rights not specifically enumerated within the Constitution that still are in effect as explained by the 9th amendment). This has been violated so many times.
The unnecessary felling of a tree, perhaps the growth of centuries, seems to me a crime little short of murder." ~ Thomas Jefferson
