The review on gametrailers was pretty good. They only had complaints about few tricks, tricky controls on the super tricks, no online, and so, so multiplayer.
But they said the controls other than the super tricks were spot on.
Well right now it's two pretty low reviews and two pretty high reviews. Need more to get a concensus. GameSpot's preview was really positive, in line with what Vonwert says the GT review said. It brought me from piqued interest to wanting to buy.
Yeah, nothing's really new. It uses courses, characters, etc from throughout the series. It's more of a best of compilation. But everything's got small changes and of course the whole new control scheme. Also, there's less tricks and stuff.
Holy crap. I just rented it and...man, I'm glad I didn't buy it.
I have no problem w/ the controls...I can pull stuff off just fine, but...it's funny, the turning feels a little more rewarding w/ twisting the 'chuk back and forth, but the way tricks are pulled off in the air feels retarded and non-rewarding. That's not even the biggest problem though.
This game is so stripped down it hurts. Bad music. No voice acting. Bland characters. when I win a race, all I get is a cheesy "raise the roof" animation. No leveling up. This game seems so rushed it makes me want to cry. After playing a couple races and trick sessions, I was done.
Whoever EA had make this, they obviously rushed it and have made other games their main priorities. I could be wrong though...all in all, though, disappointing effort. I'm fine w/ the controls and don't like it for the reasons I actually haven't heard much fuss over (poor production values).
SSX Tricky still seems to be the best in the series.
