    noob, but not so noo

HELLO! I'm a noob (well, in the forums at least). I'm pretty good with rpgm3 (at least I'd like to think so )

    A couple of questions:

    1. Can I use ANY usb keyboard for my ps2, does it have to be some expensive one specifically designed for the ps2?

    and

    2. During battles in rpgm3, it can show the characters lying on the ground when they die, SO, why cant we display characters lying on the ground during events or outside of battle????

And by the way, my name is jeremy and its good to be here! HI EVERYONE!!!

    Aloha mi cumquat espresso.

Now that the disorienting hazing is over, welcome to the board!

To answer your question, you need a USB keyboard, which you can get for about 10 bucks at staples or office depot...or any store like that.

About the second thing, I hope you won't be put off by the limitations of the graphics in 3, but there are a few. I wish there was an NPC animation to have them lying on the ground, but I'm afraid there's not. Maybe someone will prove me wrong, but I kinda doubt it. It's still way more powerful as a game maker than people give it credit for...so don't give up on it! A lot of the limitations wound up being fairly easily overcome. People are coming up with awesome tricks all the time.

oh no, don't get me wrong. I LOVE rpgm3 . I dedicate at LEAST 5-10hrs. to it everyday . yes, there are situations where you'll have to improvise your ideas around some of the game limitations, but overall, you almost always find a way around the limitation to your liking. rpgm3 rocks!

About the char. laying on the ground thing, its weird, because just about every animation the characters use during battle, is available outside of battle (using items, etc.).

but anyway, i love rpgm3. and now that i have it, i dont know how i would live without it!

Welcome to the Pav, Jeremy. Good to have you aboard!

You can use any USB-compatible keyboard. Like Obright said, Office Supply Stores are a fairly good bet. I got lucky by finding one used at GameStop for $5, though it wasn't out on display so I had to ask.

As far as "why can't you have your characters lying down," well, you know the answer to that one, it's because they didn't program it into RPGM3!! It's pretty apparent they didn't think it was important to allow characters to be expressive, and peoples' flexibility hurts a little for it, but the upshot is that people are very forgiving about clumsy workarounds to that when they play your game. Personally, I was hoping for a "sitting" position (having people in a restaurant standing is just whack!), and some better movement animations.

You said that *animations* like using items are available outside of battle--was that a mistake, or have I been missing something?

5-10 hours a day?... WOW... that's hardcore!! If you've got some stuff you'd like to share, submit it, we'd love to try out some of your work!

How Badly Do You Want It? (VX Ace) is now available for download! - no outside software necessary.

thx 4 the warm welcome everyone!

And YES, i do spend about 5-10hrs a days w/ rpgm3 (not all at once though . What I meant about the animations is:
in character event codes, you can set display > motion > using item, ya know? just an example.

And I'll have to pick up a USB keyboard soon (though, i have grown rather skilled with the onscreen keyboard (I'm at about 10 words per minute .

and finally, about sharing my work with others, leads to a question....

I dont have a MAX DRIVE, but I DO have a gameshark 2, which enables transfer of save files from my memory card to a usb drive, which i can hook into my computer. Would that work for sharing or recieving rpgm3 files?

lemme know cuz when i finish my game, i'd really lov for you all to try it out!

about my game. its called The Dark Seed . its a horror adventure about a distraught knight plaugued by the tragic death of his wife, who has bestowed upon himself, to rid the kingdom of the immense evil force that took his wifes life. an evil force known as The Dark Seed. its a story of love, revenge, and redemption.

Im about 50% done with it, so itll be a while before its ready to play, so hopefully i can find a way to transfer files to the computer so everyone can play it!

              take care!
