    Congratulations, Nintendo!

    http://www.vgcharts.org/
The Wii has hit 5 million units sold since launch, more than half of what the 360 has sold, and well over double the PS3's sales. The DS is also coming up on 40 Million soild.

Not only that, but the Wii also outsold the PS3 and 360 in January.

Do you think the Wii will surpass the 360? How long might it take?

For a second, I thought Nintendo did something really stupid and the title was sarcasm. But this is some good news. You go, Nintendo!

Awesome! I'm sooooo happy I bought a Wii. I've played it more than any other system so far. There's always something new to discover every time I turn it on.

I don't know whether to believe that because I've never seen a Wii ever, or to call it bull since I've never seen a Wii ever. I'm starting to think the Wii is just the World's revenge on poor old IRC.

Eventually yes, but it might take a while if the 360 is getting a price cut.

The smart money is still on Nintendo, but I'm happy to see that 360 is still going to be competitive. Having 3 games in the top 10 game sales is a nice place to be indeed. I hope Lost Planet's success will bring DMC4 to the 360.

                TOP 10 GAMES: December 31, 2006-February 3, 2007: (sales numbers are approximate)
                1) Lost Planet: Extreme Condition (Xbox 360, Capcom, Jan. 2007) -- 329,000 copies
                2) Guitar Hero II (with Guitar Controller) (PS2, Activision, Nov. 2006) -- 224,000 copies
                3) Gears of War (Xbox 360, Microsoft, Nov. 2006) -- 212,000 copies
                4) WarioWare: Smooth Moves (Wii, Nintendo, Jan. 2007) -- 201,000 copies
                5) Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii, Nintendo, Nov. 2006) -- 189,000 copies
                6) Madden NFL 07 (PS2, Electronic Arts, Aug. 2006)
                7) Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GameCube, Nintendo, Nov. 2006) -- 144,000 copies
                8) Resistance: Fall of Man (PS3, SCEA, Nov. 2006) -- 144,000 copies
                9) Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas (Xbox 360, Ubisoft, Nov. 2006)
                10) New Super Mario Bros. (DS, Nintendo, May 2006)

I hope the 360 continues to do well too. I want to see it get more of the games that are traditionally on Sony hardware, but for that to happen, I think it'd have to somehow take off in japan. Blue Dragon couldnt do it, so I wonder what possibly could.

If Blue Dragon couldn't do it, then nothing can. Perhaps Lost Odyssey, or Blue Dragon 2...because everyone knows that the sequel is where you make the REAL money.

I'm reserving judgment on the console war until next Christmas. That's when the fur will REALLY fly.

Gundam apparently. They buy Gundam games over there like they buy DSes.

It's really shocking that the Wii's managed to outsell the other consoles even with its supply shortage. I guess this proves that the shortage is due to high purchase more than low shipment.
                        Financial Times:
Yoshiyuki Kinoshita, an analyst at Merrill Lynch, now predicts that by the year 2011, a third of all Japanese households and almost 30 per cent of all US households will own a Wii.

Considering what the Wii is capable of, it's not surprising to me. It's not just a game console--it can be so many things. And since Nintendo is aiming for a family demographic, it appeals to a much wider audience than just the average hardcore gamer.

The wii could out sell them again next month if Nintendo gets enough out on shelves. I would give it a 2-3 months and it will probably hit the 10 mil mark.

There are still people at work buying them off of ebay.

Dragon Quest? Or would they all just implode?
