Nintendo leaves indie developers out in the cold

I wouldn't count on that indie 3rd party support Nintendo bragged about...at least according to their actions so far.

Apparently it's impossible to get your hands on a devkit if you're an indie developer. You think they would have learned from their past mistakes.

So they have to wait a few months? Big deal.

**** indiedevoper'sblog.net. I'm ****** that I still can't get a damn Wii without blackmailing some employee to know when they're getting another shipment of 5 consoles.

It's not like Nintendo's got a bunch of the kits lying around and saying, "lol jk" to independent developers. It's just that they don't have enough to satisfy professional developers, where their bread and butter lie.

At least their dev kits aren't so expensive that indie developers could never get one even if they are available.

Re: Nintendo leaves indie developers out in the cold

So people expect/want Nintendo to stop sending proven, successful developers devkits, and instead focus on making sure independant developers who might not actually ever make anything get devkits?

thats stupid. indie developers shouldnt be a priority. you make the major third parties happy first, or risk losing them. for once, third parties REALLY want on nintendo's home console. they have to run with that.

I don't care, as long as the Wii has, like, games.
                        I'm looking at you, gamecube.

gamecube had lots of great games.
the problem was that only a few of them were exclusive to the gamecube.

I really hate the word "indie".
I didn't know that there were any such game developers. it makes perfect sense to me. yeah, you're going to want to give a developer like Square a devkit much sooner than you want to give some group of kids in their basement one.

Y'know whats even worse is that I just bought a couple games for GCN lately.
