    Fiyah Embrem (Wii)

Here's a sneak peak at a commercial for it.

    That chick looks bored.

It also appears to be the first 1 handed RPG.

I've always had an interest in Fire Emblem, but I never got around to buying the GBA and GC games.

    I'll look into this.

I love how they throw around the word gimmick, I would have liked to point and click on the screen where I want the unit to go.

The Gamecube one was pretty good, though the story seemed pretty generic and was told in the same way stories are told in RPGMaker 3 (seriously not joking, there is maybe 5 cinemas and the rest is exactly like the storyteller mode or whatever it is with the avatar characters and the 3 line textbox at the bottom). Not quite as good as FFT, but it has an interesting element where if you're characters die, they're dead for good. No revive spells. So it was enjoyable for a playthrough, and a pretty good tactics game.

If there was a reason to replay it I would, the story wasn't good enough though to justify going on a harder mode.

I didn't mind the Storyteller bits, you don't need Final Fantasy cinimatics to have a good game. I just hope that the Wii version has some unlockables or multiple story arcs or somthing like that.

The "when the character dies, he's gone for good" element is what stopped me from playing this game. I was 4-5 maps into the GBA game, and at least one of my characters died every time I played it. I replayed that level about 7-8 times with the same result. So eventually, I just stopped playing.

The same thing happen to me, but it was mainly due to trying to save this girl from pirates before I beat the boss.

Yea, trying to beat the game without any characters dying is pretty frustrating. For the first one on the GBA I managed to keep all of my characters until the last level, where about 3 or 4 of them died, at which point I stopped caring.

I can understand the realism of actually putting finality into death, but when you've gone through the trouble of levelling a character up, I think very few people would just accept them getting slaughtered and move on rather than reset the GBA in order to keep everyone alive. I guess irreversible death and character levelling are two elements that just can't go hand in hand without major frustration.

Oh, and I ventually started skipping through storyteller mode because the story wasn't worth paying any attention to.

I had no idea how beautiful you were.

                      Re: Fiyah Embrem (Wii)

Probably only minor adjustments to the overall battle mechanics.

The first American GBA FE release was great, because the gameplay was challenging and fun, and the story, while pretty basic, was at least told well and the characters were all memorable. Sacred Stones is almost entirely the same game, albeit more difficult and a story and characters that just don't add up to the original.

GC Fire Emblem is pretty, and what voice-acting has been done is decent, but again, the story just doesn't matter because it's contrite and the characters are all annoying. There's an added level to the gameplay with beorc and laguz and a deeper system of unit weaknesses, but promotion has been dumbed down to make a less interesting party in the end.

Also, they broke the mold a little bit when they made a chick wyvern rider. Up to now it's been female pegasus knights and male wyvern riders.

I assure you I'll give Fiyah Embrem for Wii a chance, but I'm not as excited about it as I want to be.
